Is pine bedding safe for guinea pigs or not? I see wal-mart sells it for 7.00 for a big bag and it shows guinea pigs on the package but I was not sure if this is safe for them or not?

As long as it's kiln-dried, it's ok.

Sometimes even if it's Kiln dried they can have issues w/ it. That big huge bag at Wally I don't think it's Kiln dried. My wasn't and I didn't realize until I got it home and opened.

Good point, Furyangoddess. While it should be safe as far as volatile oils are concerned if it's kiln-dried, it can still be very dusty and cause problems.

Yep, when we first got Gumball, he ended up w/ a URI from Pine. Tractor Supply sells a big thing of Aspen for like 10 bux. A bit more than the six dollars at Walmart, but will save in the long run w/ no URI

I don't conider pine safe even if its kiln dried. I also go on rat, ferret, rabbit, mouse and hamster forums and they all say pine (even kiln dried) is not safe. Some people don't have problems with it but I wouldnt personally use it.

Thanks so much for the input. I will not use it ever! This is why I like this forum because you can learn what to use and what not to use.
