I just bought some chews for my girls, and I was wondering if it is ok for them to eat the scraps and shreds that come off the toys. They are made of wood I think, and there is one made of cardboard, which I was worried about. They are Oxbow, if that has anything to do with it.

Check what wood it is made of. Cardboard is something that guinea pigs can pass perfectly fine. Anything with glue, plastic or wires should not be used at all. If you guinea pigs have ingested anything not water soluble watch them to make sure they are acting fine 2 days after the ate it. Don’t want to cause any blockages.

Is wood ok? I bought them a wood chew toy and apple sticks.

Apple sticks are fine. They can eat the whole plant, leaves, fruit, and sticks. Cedar, redwood, pine and eucalyptus woods are toxic. Make sure the wood it not treated either, no gloss or plywood. No sharp edges either. I think your piggy will love these 😄. What chew toy did you get though?
