Soo I called the "rescue" that I got cash from and asked if she really thought he was honestly fixed.. But how can I tell? Because there is a female I want to get
badly because she is so young and cute, and cash needs a friend ASAP. The
"rescue" said he doesn't get along with any other guinea pigs. I don't think this rescue knows their stuff. He's gotten along with my dogs, my friends hedgehog(he brought hay to her!) and my friends six guinea pigs. Three boars, three sows.

So regardless if he's fixed should I get him a boar friend? Or sow?

Cash is my first guinea pig and I'm freaking out about everything! Lol

If he isn't fixed don't get get a sow. You dont want to end up with more pigs then your able to care for. Did they say he was fixed? And what makes you doubt them exactly? I'm not sure if there is a tell tale sign to look for, but I'm sure a vet who deals with pigs would be able to tell.

Also, be prepared that Cash doesn't get along with another pig. Have a big enough cage(the homepage lists recommended sizes per pigs) to have a greater chance of success, and just in case you need to house them seperatly if they don't get along. There is info here on making introductions too that would be helpful.

Sexing Guinea Pigs: How to Sex a Guinea PigYou could check this out, towards the end of the page Teresa has pictures of a neutered male, versus an un-neutered male. Hopefully Cash is old enough to have developed big ...... erm..... male bits, so they may be obvious if they are there. If the rescue is in your area, but there are no vets in the area that are experienced with neutering, I would wonder "where was Cash neutered...?"

You can still get the female, and have her in quarantine until you're absolutely sure he is neutered, but then if it turns out he isn't, you will have to keep him separated until (and for about 4 weeks afterward) you get him neutered.

I have not seen anything that says "neutered boars will only get along with (sows/boars)" so you should be safe putting him in with females or males, as long as they can get along. I'd say you should just play the dating game when figuring out who Cash will get along with, and definitely do proper introductions (I'm not sure if quarantine still applies when you do the dating game, because they're already exposed to each other.)

Well, in either case, I would also read through this (Guinea Pig Neutering, How to Neuter your Guinea Pigs) in case Cash is not snipped, and you want to take him through the process of it, or just to learn about the surgery your beloved pet went through.

You can take him to a vet to find out if he's neutered. Please stop introducing him to random animals. It's very stressful for him and serves no purpose.

I had to introduce him. I wanted to see if he was a mean as they said.

Anyways, he is neutered! The lady directed to me to the who done the procedure and he told me to come in with the piggy so he could prove to me. The vet seemed super knowledgeable, and I checked the sexing and it seemed the same!
