so i went to spot clean the boys cage today as i normally do in my routine clean up.
and noticed that simba was holding up his left front paw.
so before i freaked out (which i commonly tend to do),
i monitored for a good 15 min. and saw he was going around the cage hopping not walking and every time he stopped he lifted that paw :(.
i called a vet and they are booked up, i picked him up and pushed toward his paw(up from the palm) and he nibbled me a bit then i gently tried spreading fingers and again he nibbled.
strange thing is LUCKY went to play with him and started pocorning and simba played and popcorned repeatedly for a good 10 min.he hasnt squeaked or anything from pain but is laying down much more than usual. what should i do? what do you think- broken paw, sprained, bruised?
i'm so sad what can i do ,should i separate him divide the cage to force him to rest? 1x2¿¿

Sounds like something may be wrong, guinea pigs also try to hide when they are hurt, so the playing shouldn't make you think he is fine. There is no way you can "Force him to rest" I would either call the vet back, and ask them if there isn't a possible way they could fit him in, or find another exotics vet close to you and rush him there.

It doesn't sound like a serious injury from what you are describing, but with pigs that's always hard to tell. If he's still limping & doesn't want to use that foot at all tomorrow, try finding another vet.

You can force him to rest by limiting his movements & putting him in a 1x2-1x3/large pet carrier. I wouldn't separate unless you suspect a more severe injury or sprain, just keep an eye on him for now.

ok so after breaking my heaf i went back and checked.and noticed his left paw seems a little stolen, the bottom not the top. here are some pic the brown poised seems normal but the other one seems a more plump..... he is moving it and he only puts the top of his paw down not the palm part?

There is no way we can accurately diagnose the problem. You can monitor him for a day and see if there's any change--if not, then a vet visit is in order.

It definitely looks swollen. I'd get to a vet. Bad things can happen with breaks that aren't fixed right.

I wouldn't separate them, so they'll continue to get along the same.

update on simbas foot..

so after close monitoring he has been using his paw, and today i woke up and saw using it. standing running and cleaning himself swelling looks like it went down and i will post up pics in a couple of minutes. any idea what it could have been?

Re: update on simbas foot..

Can you press on it to see if anything feels unusual? It could be a sprain or a fracture that's healing. If it's touch sensitive, you might want to consider having it checked so he doesn't have issues with it later.

It would be best to put any updates you have on the same post.

i did and nothing seems unnaturally it feels just like the other paw, and i did apply force gently and and he was pretty much good no jerking or any sensitivity.

I merged your two posts.

Especially in the medical section, it's best to keep all posts about your pig on the same thread. That way people don't have to search for your previous threads. It's important for people trying to help out to know all the background information.

thanks :( i'm sorry, my mistake...

That's good news! Maybe it was just a sprain then. I know ours swell. If he continues to get better, it should be okay.

Maybe there is something he jumped down from? Even if they do it all the time, suddenly they can do it wrong. My Teddy suddenly hurt his leg jumping out of his hay bin. I then made it so they didn't have to hop at all.

update soooooo simba is back up and running no limping our any thing of that nature seems pretty good to me about to take them a bath and check out his paw and i will report back
