Well, for those who dont know me,Hey,im amanda and im 14,and I own 1 guinea pig, choo choo.I got her at a petstore before i found this site, and relized it was bad.

Anyways,do you think choo choo is pregnant?I mean, shes eating a ton,and drinking a LOT of water too.(I got choo choo about 1 and a half months ago at the petstore, and ever since shes been getting a little fat)...well,here are the pictures for you to see her

i think she might be,and if she is,i dont know when she got pregnant,so i dont know when she should be having the pups

When did you get her?

She said one and a half months ago.

It's possible. Either take her to a vet to get it confirmed or wait and look for movement and sound in the tummy area.

I think she DEFINATELY is! She looks huge and bloated. I'm 95% sure she is. If you cup your hands around her belly you will be able to feel them moving since she got pregnant more than one and a half months ago.

Take her to a vet to be sure...but I'm not convinced she's preggers.

When I rescued my first pig I was nearly certain she was preggers shortly after I got her. I did all my research and was preparing for the big day. She kept getting fatter and fatter. When she never had babies I realized that good care, food and housing were making her fat. She was simply making up for lost time.

She looks like an Aby. She really doesn't look pregnant to me. Aby's are generally fatter in the rear end. If you have had her for about a month and a half, that is approximately 6 weeks, you should be able to feel some movement in her tummy.

Also, please read this link and post properly using capitalization and proper punctuation.

Welcome to the Forum.

I work at PEtsMart, and we got a pregnant pig by accident. She's an aby (abyssinian), like your pig - she's mine now, I adopted her since we couldn't sell her. When she was pregnant, she looked HUGE. I mean, you couldn't believe how unbelievably huge she looked, and she was only carrying two pups. If you go to guinealynx.info's forums and find the thread about chii's pregnant pig, look at the "before" pictures. That's how my Ginger looked before she had Little Bit and the other baby - and chii's pig had four! For a normal pig? Yes, she looks pregnant. For an Aby? Nope. My baby looks about that fat - she's two months old now, and she looks way pregnant, but she couldn't be. It's pretty cute though =)

Some piggies are naturally chubby. When my girl, Luna was pregnant I was wondering if she was just getting fat. Pregnant piggies will have a distinct "pear" shape, while most chubby pigs will be an all-over chubbiness.
Also, if you gently palpate (press) her tummy, it will be firm if she's pregnant, and soft and squishy if she's just big and beautiful.
Hope this helped you and good luck!

I have to say that not all pregnant piggies get that nice distinct pear shape either. Chatty just looked like she gained a tiny bit of weight, which I accredited to her eating well, she wasn't noticably pregnant.

Oh my gosh!!!!I was just petting Choo Choo, as I gave her more lettuce, and I thought it would be a good time to just feel her stomach, and all of a sudden, things feel like they are poppin out!!THE BABIES KICKED!!!You could actually see her stomach move too, like you could see the babies kicking!!Since her belly isn't as big as other pigs that I've seen(that were preggers),and since this is her first litter,I would assume,I guess shes having like 1 or 2 pups.

Ugh,but im kind of fretting, because I do not know when she will be giving birth,it could be ANY time.

good luck! hope everything works out for you okay.
are you going to keep all the pups? hopefully she will only have one or two.

Sorry if I was giving false info, Ly. I was just talking from personal experience.

Tinkerbell,I am most likely going to keep them, especially if they are girls. If one is a boy, then I will most likely keep him,and maybe get him nuetured(is that spelled right?),but how much does it cost to get a boy guinea pig nuetured, and you do it at the vet right?

You were giving very good info kat, I was also speaking from personal experience. Chatty didn't get a nice pear shape.

Yes GPR, you have to get neutering done by a vet. The cost depends on where you live.

Ok,so last night I listened to Choo Choo's Belly, and I heard teeth chattering. What does this mean again, when the babys teeth chatter?

Wow. good luck.

Is her current cage big enough for her and her babies? And do you have any living arrangements once the pups are big enough to leave their mom? especially if they are different genders. Start thinking about these things.

Make sure the mom gets lots of vit c and extra veggies :D

Thanks Carrot.
Yes,her cage is 2x5 with a 1x2 upper level.
Also,if she has any girls,I am going to keep them, and if they are males,I already have an excellent family wanting for them, and they live 3 houses down,so I could always check up on them...I told them about this site, and they already got the supplies ready and the cage built,so everythings all set :).

Baby guinea pigs are very cute and not to hard to take care of.I purchased aa pregnant peruvian from Superpet( my girlfriend works there) and she gave birth to 4 babies. No complications at all and for that i was amazed.i would post pics of my new cages but FOR SOME REASON my uploading pictures was disabled so meh.The only extra care i gave her was more alfalfa and veges. She drank alot more water and became about 6 times the size of her regular size. When she finally gave birth she was not even 6 weeks so the retarded breeders who gave the cavie to superpet obviously just did it for the lowsy 10 dollars.Anyone here knows superpet is a good store since they deal with the humane society on many cases so please no bad mouthing them.they are the only store i look for animals at because i breed rabbits for show and know where every rodent/reptile come from. The next cage ill be building is a C&C fibreglass cage for my 2 savannah monitors. If anyone knows a cheap hardware place or has any free FG in the ottawa ontario area please email me back ill very much appreciate it.

wow the cage sounds great and good news about the family getting a c+c cage for any males!

Good luck. Make sure she has lots of hay at night. I hear they often give birth at night.
