I've been reading the Cavy Spirit pages for a while ever since I contemplated adopting a third guinea pig to my other two. I contacted the rescue local to us who informed me that adding a third wasn't a very good idea as one pig tends to be "victimised" by the other two, and hence they only adopt out in pairs. I have room for a third in my C&C cage, but not another pair. Anyone here have experience of three? Is it really not an option?
Other than the rescue, one of my work colleagues is (arrgh!!) contemplating giving away her male to a school (please, no!!) because he's become "too much hassle" and because he's too noisy. Needless to say, I would refer to her as a colleague, not as a friend. I have offered to take him in, and could even make him his own C&C cage for whilst he is quarantined and for the period between him being neutered and introduced to the girls. But I need to know if there is a chance that a threesome would work before I take him on.
