Introductions

Hi everyone,

I'm adopting a female rescue piggy in June, she is approximately 6 months - 1 yr old and has been through a bit of a rough time, and I'm just wondering how to introduce her to the 2 pigs I already have. Charlie is 2 yrs old and he is a neutered boar, while Tuppence is 1 yr old and is a sow. They get on great together but what is the best way to introduce them to her/her to them? I've seen a few ideas but would appreciate other peoples' ideas too.

Just make sure that you quarintine in a seperate room for three weeks. Then introduce them on neutral territory. Since you have a neutered boar already I don't forsee any problems. Just make sure you wash everything down in the cage before putting them in there.

Be farmiliar with the buddy bath in case the need arises.

He'll probably be really humpy at first, but hopefully calm down. If he bugs her, she'll put him in his place by nipping him or peeing in his face.

Buddy baths are to be used in extreme cases where every other method of introductions fail.

and some times this does not work during puberty, which is what i think happend to our two pigs..... We are going to try again at the end of this month

Do the same rules apply with a new pup and is there anything special I need to know in case we take one of the foster pig babies?
