I have a 8 month old jack russell terrier. i am wondering how i would go about introducing Cordella (my piggie) to Bungie (my Jack)

Has any one had any problems or successes with dogs and pigs?:?:

I don't recommend introducing them and certainly never trust your dog around the GP. Jack Russells are vermin hunters. Anything small and furry is hard wired in them to be prey.

is there no chnace?

Jack Russell terriers and piggies don't mix. My mom has a Jack Russell named Meggie and she wants to get at Mr. Wheekie (my mom's guinea pig) so bad she can't stand it. If you have a C&C cage, you definately need a lid/cover for it. If you don't have a C&C cage, it would be a great idea to build one for your piggie as petstore cages are way too small and don't meet the cage size recommendations.

Our Bull Terrier likes to sniff noses with our piggy Mia through the cage bars. Through the cage they get along fine and it is real cute. But I know that if I were to let Mia out that the dog would kill her just by trying to play with her. Like others have said, it's probably safest just to leave them apart.

Our Jack Russell is fine with the pigs. He knows not to touch them, however he is never left alone with them.

We have an Italian Greyhound; they are also prey hunters, even though they are sight-hounds. She was very interested in our guinea pigs at first, when she was a little puppy, but after Hamm - the pig matriarch - bit her on the nose, she hasn't messed with them since. She sometimes goes over to their cage to investigate, but one rumble from Hamm, and she - the dog - scurries on her way. We never leave them alone together, though.

ok thanks for the advise!

When I was a kid we had a corgi and a love bird. One time the bird got out while my family and I were out. We came home and saw the cage open and feathers on the floor, but no bird. We were so sure the dog had killed the bird. However, after some searching, we found both bird and dog under the bed were the dog slept. She had picked him up in her mouth and carried him gently to her safety place and watch him until we got home. She was the most special dog in the world, who sadly had to be euthanized at age 14.

oh! i love that story!

We have two Yorkies who love our piggies. In fact, the youngest of the dogs, Benny, Plays with them during floortime. I should mention that they are never left alone together, but so far I haven't had any problems. I think it depends on the breed and temperment of the animal being introduced.
