About a month ago I took in another female cavy for my Lily. Rose has been quarantined in my bedroom for the duration. Last week I took Rose to see a vet to make sure everything was okay. The vet checked for lice and couldn't find anything. She used tape to gather skin cells(?) and looked at those under the microscope. She also checked Rose's teeth and found a lot of food particles in them that might mean that Rosie will have teeth problems later. For now though, everything's fine! I gave both Lily and Rose a bath the other night and while I held Lily on the couch, my boyfriend held Rose. Lily was the first to make contact. She was so happy! She started popcorning! Rosie seemed a little indifferent and she chattered her teeth but nothing happend physically. She even let Lily squirm under her with out doing anything. I've put them in the new cage we made which is also a 2X4 but we've added a second floor that we haven't finished covering with coroplast so for now, they can't reach the 2nd floor. Today is the second day they are together and they haven't been fighting, some rumblestrutting from Lily and some chattering from Rose. Hopefully I'll get some pictures up. By the way, Rosie, according to the person I got her from is about 3 years old and Lily's about 10 months old.
