I have five boys, three of them in a c&c by themselfs, thats Buzz, Romeo, and now Abner, the guys accepted Abner about two days ago with out a problem. Those three guys are pretty big boys. So I tryed to introduce my other two, Toby (sheltie) and my new baby Oreo. who is about 3-5 months,(vey tiny) Well I did this on floor time in a two pens connected together that I got from Wal mart. Well before I put anything in there, I put three igloos, two bunches of hay, and three baskets of veggies. Well I put the three boys in, and then put in the two new guys, the boys never went near Toby, but were attacking the baby biting his face and his bottom, at first I thought they were sniffing him, but the baby was in a corner hiding not moving and crying really loud, the three boys were jumping on him. So I took him out after 30 mins. Was I right for doing that, and is he too small for them yet. When can I introduce them again, and not stress anyone out. right now the three boys are together and Toby and Oreo are together, Since they did not bother Toby should I put Toby with them, then again the baby will be alone and Oreo and Toby have already bonded. If some one who has introduced piggies before can give me any advice I would appericiate it.

You shouldn't seperate them unless blood is drawn or somebody stops another from eating. Try it out again, but don't seperate unless that happens. When they go in the cage together, they need a BIG cage, like a 2x7 or preferably a 2x8. Good luck, and keep us updated.

Thanks slap. the three boys are in a 2x6 right now and the others in a 2x4, I will have one more go at it again later tonight and see what happens. My little girl wants to go to the movies, well take care and thanks, are you sure the baby is not to small.

They don't really care about age too much. If anything now my pigs protect the youngest one.

hey we seperated ours due to blood shed how long should we wait before trying again

I haven't been able to reintroduce boars who fight like that, sebedale. But, hopfully others will have mor encouraging experiences. I've ended up pairing boars like that with baby boars, or neutering them and finding them girlfriends.

Christy, I've not experienced adult boars hurting babies. They generally chase them about sniffing and trying to mount for a bit, but thats it. Do be sure your baby boar is really a boy (I'm sure you've done that). I've introduced at 3 weeks of age. Perhaps try intro'ing one adult at a time, so baby does not get overwhelmed and start crying.

Amiable, thanks for the info, see I just put them in all at once and see what they would do, but I am going to try that tomorrow, i am adding a addition on my cage and will do one at a time, I did that already with Toby (sheltie) and they never went near him, but they were more concerned with the baby, so tomorrow I will take each individual boar and itroduce them to the baby, see what scared me is that they were biting him, but will try again, and let every one know how it went. Thanks again for that info would of never thought of that.

The only thing about ours is the one we bought and put in the cage..... we think is in his adolecent stage. So We hope he will give in later.

Update Introducing piggies,

Hello every one, I today am finally a happy mommy of my cavies, they are ALL together and well, I am so excited. It has been about 1 hour and 30 mins since they have been together. So I am happy, no fighting, they are chasing eachother, and just my Boy Romeo, who I think is the leader, is chasing the baby, but I am thinking Toby (sheltie) is the leader cause when he comes near the guys they all run and hide, it is so cute. He also protects the baby, so I just thought I would tell everyone about this, I am just so excited, I am sure you all know how I feel, I did not want to keep them seperate. Also I have a excapey Romeo, he is climbing up the cage and jumping over the pen during floor time, so with my updates on the cage today I am adding one more cube so he does not climb. Well thanks every one for the advice with my guys.

Your welcome! I am glad they are all getting along!

Thanks Slap, today I am going to get a roll of film and post pics tomorrow on a website. My anniversary present is a dig camera but that is in May, so intill them I have to get a roll of film and take it ot the store and devolope it, i have been to lazy. Well thanks again, will post the site tomorrow for all to see.

Awesome!

Can't wait to see.

well i am happy for ya... I can only hope that my next try at OPERATION PIGGY BROTHERHOOD will go as well as this did. I want the piggs to be together so bad they are so much fun apart i know they would have a great time together *POUT*

I dont know how many piggies you have but what I did is introduce them one at a time I took all the piggies out of the cage and put the baby in and one of the calmer guys in and them waited 30 mins, and put in another, and so on. I know I am still having popcorning and alot of humping, but at the beggining when they were all in there, some of them were all snapping at one another, but you have to keep with it, when I was hearing they baby squeal,I wanted to take him out. like slap reminded me, do not take them out inless there is blood shed and they prevent one another from eating. So now they are fine, I am still watching closely and I am going to be scared when I leave in alittle bit for the drs and erronds, but I have to trust them. But keep at it and try to introduce them again and watch, I am not sure if piggies will not accept another pig, I am still new at this but considering that they are heard animals,I should not see a problem, then again I am not a expert, maybe the more knowledgable cavy slaves can help you. Well thanks and they guys are good.

Hey guys started a site for my piggies, I am still doing it but you can go there for pics, I have thei shelter photos there and will take some of them tonight and post them tomorrow on there, they baby is the only one not there, I am getting ready to leave hope my guys do well and when I come home and they are safe, they have been alright, alot a chattering going on right now, so I am trying my best to stick with it, hopefully they will calm down more, and relax. Lets hope...
