Injured pig

Last night my new pig and my original pigs had a pretty big fight. Superman was bitten several times. The worst one is on his eyelid.

I know that the pig absolutely can not have any antibiotic ointment. Is there something else that I can use to clean his wounds with that is NOT toxic to hime? Is hydrogen peroxide ok? I have only used warm water thus far, but I don't want an infection to set in.

Thanks for any help you can give!!

OK, Superman's eye looks a whole lot better this morning. But I would still really like to know if there's anything I can put on it to disinfect the wound?!

Thanks again,
Marie

Take the piggy to a vet for accurate medical care, don't rely on advice over the internet. We can't see him to know the details, a vet will.

Try https://guinealynx.info/forums and get your piggie to a vet. There's even an announcment on this forum to go to Guinea Lynx with medical care questions.

NoVeil - Though you're correct, only a vet can suggest treatment, Guinea Lynx does have accurate medical info and a forum with loads of people with much GP experience.

so your telling me ointment isnt ok but peroxide is.Hmmmmmm sounds like whatever. The Best thing to do isput polyspron on it and cover it up if its really bad.(thats if you dont want to bring him to a vet) Or for open wounds theres a certain creamy substance you can buy from your vet that heals things.its called Surolan. Its a topical Cream from janssen that works awesome.I use it on every cut that my pigs get.The ingredients if your wondering are right on the bottle.

My Cujo had a sort of cut on the skin near his nose and the vet prescribed an antibiotic ointment for him. There should not be a problem dabbing a bit on the injury.

Thanks for all the help. I found the guinealynx site shortly after posting. It says not to use antibiotic creams or peroxide. I'm just keeping it clean and dry. We'll see.

Thanks,
Marie

:) good research.

UPDATE:

Superman's eye is healing very well on its own. I'm glad for all the advice from everyone!!
In the end, I decided to let the mechanisms God put into place do their thing. I guess I should have had more faith to begin with. Why mess with His perfect design if it's working!!!

Thanks again,
Marie
