Re: in season?

k, "in season" is a term use in reference to a female piggie is in her esterus cycle (just like a human females menstral cycle). a piggie's heat(season) cycle will last anywhere from 14 to 16 days if my memory is correct, which it is why it is so important for her not to be near any males (there was an incident in the uk (i think) where a male piggie escaped his pen and found his way into a pen of females in heat, they finally found him a week later, exausted but other than that fine, he managed to get almost all the females pregnant).
a female piggie will become very submissive during her "season" (she'll arch her rear end alittle when you pet her back, and she might even try to mount her piggie friend too, and she'll also purr alot at her cage mates). hope this helps =0).

Re: in season?

hmm..i do recall lucky acting like that sometimes, but does this happen yearly of monthly? thanks, that last post helped a lot!

Re: in season?

yw =0), it's all year long. behavior varies from piggie to piggie (some will purr alot and others will kinda arch their backend when they're stroked just like a female cat) my eldest female i had (pricilla), use to arch her rear end at me and sort of weave back and forth while i stroked her, so i knew what time of the month it was =0p (since i didn't have any males at the time, i didn't worry too much about the extra purring during the night). i even had a piggie who had a "phantom pregnancy", she began to get alittle pudgy and about three monts from that, she started lactating. it had me thinking that there was a male in the pen at first, lol. i heard of it happening to female dogs, but not to piggies.
