my one boy is about 6 months old (jerry), and pretty lonely (he's separated from the other 2 boys due to fighting) :guilty:. i'm looking to adopt a companion for him. the rescue 'i've used before has a senior citizen pig looking for a home. they're willing to do a meet and greet, which would be good. when i asked about quaratine - they said they don't do it :eye-poppi. they offered to keep the pig with a foster for couple of weeks (i guess as kind of a quaratine), but that didn't help me feel any better. i'm worried about bringing any buggy-things into my home and exposing my three pigs.
so here are 2 scenarios i've thought of. 1. i bring the new pig home, and quarantine him myself, and then cross my fingers when it's time for introductions. i'd have to make some sort of arrangement with the rescue that if the new pig and my current pig absolutely don't get along (like if there's bloodshed, like last time), i'd have to bring the old pig back. the whole point here is getting a friend for jerry.
scenario 2. i bring jerry along for the meet and greet. if it goes well, i bring them both home and move jerry, his new friend, and their cage into a seperate room and quaratine both of them. i would at least know they'd get along, though i risk exposing jerry to something. and if they aren't a good match, i'd have to quarantine jerry anyway (he's by himself in the cage already, so that wouldn't be too awful, at least from a practical perspective). this is sooo hard help me with any idea you guys!! aaarrrggg!!

I think I'd go with #2. Good luck

I'm also thinking to adopt 2 guinea pigs from a rescue. I'm pretty new to this piggy thing, do I need quarantine as well? Do I keep them together or separate during the process?
