I'm very sorry but I am leaving cavy cages most likely. My mom and dad had it with the changes in the cage and bedding. They finally enforced the rule that my only options now are going back to my petstore cage (FOR 3 PIGS!!) or having a 2x3 cage. I cannot do anything because I cannot afford to move out. I'm broke. I was going to use woody pet and decided not to. Today unexpectedly I ran out of shavings (which I wasn't going to use anyways) and my parents rufused to pick up any bedding. They also ran out of hay and they wouldn't let me get that either. I hate the little games they play with this. It's so damn stupid (Excuse my french). I wouldn't like my account removed as in the future they may change their minds. I'll update you later.

I am sorry moomoo. Your best option, if your pigs have to live in that small of a cage, would be to find them another home. If you can't afford an emergency vet bill that is another factor.

What is happening to the ferret? I warned you about finances earlier, ferrets are extremely expensive. I hope you are able to make it.

Unfortunatley the job was lost. I wouldn't have the heart to give up the pigs, even if it was best for them (Neither the ferret). I got the answer on the pigs which is good news (So soon suprisingly) I can make them a wood based (Covered with shower curtain) 2x5. That's the good news. The other good news is my parents agreed to pay for the ferret's vet bills only. I can make it on what I have saved thankfully)

For bedding, you can use towels/fleece so that you don't have to buy bedding again. that'll save money. If you really can't afford emergency vet bills, you need to do what's best for the pigs.

How was the job lost?

Actually, the job was lost for all the wrong reasons. It wasn't my fault. One of my co-workers did it and sadly blamed it on me. THe person later apologized and told my boss that it was their fault. I will hopefully get my job back. If not, I will look for a new one. Sounds like I'm gonna get it back. Sorry for making it sound so dramatic. Im just thinking of the worst.

For bedding I'm moving to a horse bedding called equine fresh and STAYING with it.

Maping out my thoughts for a sec:

Job- Most likely going to be given back, if not, things will be arranged. Will find out tommorow.

Bedding- Going to use equine fresh the horse bedding because it's only five dollars

Cage problem: Making a 2x5, no more expanding so they don't get mad.
Most likely outcome: It'll be alright because my job was what was keeping my supply of $$$ and it was enough for supporting the ferret and the pigs.

Good luck with everything! I don't think you should loose your account because your parents are forcing you to downsize your cage. We need your valubale information/ you might need our help someday, and loosing people isn't good especially when they did nothing wrong. Please re-consider leaving. :(

Good luck, i'm sort of going through the same thing, so someone knows what it feels like.

Thank Goodness. I re-gained my job. Within two weeks or less, I will be financially stable again.

That's SO GOOD! Did the other employee get fired for it? Glad you got your job back!

Have you thought of making the new cage vertical rather than horizontal? They can have more room that way with less floor-space being taken up, just make sure it's fixed to the wall so it doesn't topple over.

I am just thinking of a smaller footprint and an extra storey or two, not a cage 1 foot by 1 foot, and 12 feet high!

Good luck!

It's not recommended, because cavies are land dwellers.

I have had mine going up to five feet above the ground with no problems, as long as there is a solid floor.

I'm not saying that some cavies wouldn't like it, but it's not recommended because most prefer a big open space and run around the cage.

I think she thinking of a loft, not a ferret cage. As long as your lower level is big enough for piggie laps an upper level is fine. Many people have 2 or 3 level cages here.

I was very shocked to read your first post but I'm glad to hear that you have your job back and things aren't as bad as they seemed! I don't think you should leave at all.

I'm not. Im staying. I was just afraid that I would have to lower their living conditions. Yes, the other employee got fired. They apologized to me too.

Like I said you shouldn't have to leave because you were forced to lower thier standards. You are just as deserving to be on this forum as any other cavy owner, or any person for that matter. Glad you got your job back!
