Even though I've been posting on this forum for yonks, I don't have any guinea pigs yet. It's a really long story, but I can finally get them now! I was in luck and I found two boars at my local shelter. One is all black with a little crest on his head (the exact breed I wanted) and I think (the picture wasn't that clear) the other is tri coloured. I'm getting them next friday. I'm so happy!!!!! I heard their story and it was awful. They were let loose on a racecourse, which is huge. (UK people, it was Ascot race course). Poor guys.

You don't really need to reply to this post, I just wanted to share my happiness! =)

YAY!!!!! I'm so happy for you! I can't wait for pictures of them. It's so sad that someone could do that to the pigs. It's great you can give them a loving home, so good luck with them! =)

Congrats! They sound adorable! Any pics yet???

I love hearing how people adopt guinea pigs, especially when they've come from a nasty past. Good job!

Congratulations!!!! It always exciting to get a new "family member". It's great your getting your piggies from a shelter!

Thanks guys. I did get sent two pictures, but they are quite bad quality, and they're tiny! So sorry, you just have to wait till next week! =)

Congratulations!

Oh how exciting - I can't wait to see them! They're certainly in for a great next chapter to override their sad story so far. I assumed you had pigs already, but you've obviously just been doing your research very well before getting any!

Congratulations! I hope my parents decide to let me get one too...

Treen, I havn't had any guinea pigs before. This is my first time in owning them. A question... Lorna, who runs the rescue, was talking about donations. I was going to give a donation anyway, but I'm not sure how much to give. Do you think that £30 for two boars is enough?

They're so cute!

Congrats!!!!

they are sooooooooooo cute!

Thanks guys! Everythings sorted now. Just phoned the rescue to make sure she still wants to give them to me! I'll take some pictures of the cage setup as well. Its an L shape, so maybe it will give some people with not a lot of space some ideas?

Edit: Sorry about the pictures. I got them sent through my e mail account, so I think you can only view them when I am signed into my hotmail account. I'm not sure though...

I couldn't see the pigtures either? :( The links took me to my hotmail inbox.

Congrats though!!!!

Sorry :(. I guess everybody has to wait till friday then! My dad just went out today to get me all my stuff. I bought megazorb bedding, some allen and page guinea pig food, readigrass and I have the bale of hay in my garage from before. Oh my. I set up the whole cage and put it in my room, and boy is it big. I did take some pictures, which should be uploaded soon. Half my cage is covered with a towel and newspaper and the other half will use the bedding. I'll see how it goes.

thats weird...I was able to see the pictures yesterday. Two little pigs running around. Today I cant see them....

Oh what a tease! Good luck with picking them up.

Usually rescues ask for a donation of between £5 and £10 a pig, so I think the rescue will be very glad of your generous donation of £30.

lol Treen. I've made them a little 2x1 carrier which I'm going to stuff with hay and veggies to pick them up!

Yay! I've got my cage loaded up in the photo gallery. Its not really complete yet (doesn't have any bedding and its missing a water bottle, blah blah). Do you like?

Lorna has been soooo nice to me and she has given me tons of information. She takes such good care of all her animals, so thats why I wanted to give her a generous donation!
