OK well here's my brilliant solution, Im going to make a 2x2 temperary cage in my room, I built it with the cubes last night and it fits fine. Sense I'm going to clean the house to get my parents convinced we should get a dog or a puppy heres the cool part-

We have this guest room downstairs with a window and everything, If I can clean it up and sort what's in it, Furby can probably have the WHOLE room to herself, my parents wouldnt get it, but they said once I got it clean I could do whatever I wanted with it, and I'm talking TONS of room, enough that I was thinking about switching rooms to live there, If it works it will be much bigger then then any Ive seen here, probably a corner cage 9x3x9x3 or larger, Im starting to think I could line the cage around the walls, use the closet for pig supplies and Line the floor with some waterproof material!! hehe.. I can even build a door on it-sense it is just curtained off now, which would keep the new dog we might get out. Just imagine how many furballs I might get *grins* and my parents probably wouldnt care if they are taken care of and not in their sight (or smelling range lol), It could even be like a free range cage thing just for furby, and accidents on the floor wouldnt be a problem in a seperate room!!! Think how many pigs I could get, Fun Fun, now if Only I could convince my parents and come up with the $$ for this condo idea of mine. But for now it will just be furby in a big cage, perhaps with a loft or something, If I can get the room cleaned... BUt now that I think about it, sounds really fun to have a room of piggies, Im going to work so hard on that room!!!!!

Question, what do you do if the largest sheet of colorplast you can get (5'x10') is way to small for the cage you want to build, can you somehow combine sheets?

What do you think about my new idea for furby paridise?? Hehe, Id say it would be a bit of a step up from his petstore cage ;)

I forgot to mention exactly how HUGE this room is, I'll just give you an idea right now-

There's a old carved wooden queen bed on the side of it, a bedroom closet (the kind with the folding doors), and most of my bedroom set which we are selling on the near wall (a big dresser and and a matching desk with a hutch on it) This room is like the almost the exact size of my bedroom wich is like around 150 square feet (10'x15', with a matching bedroom window, just a tiny bit smaller then mine, maybe a foot or so)

I was also thinking if it worked out I could really make it cool down there by painting the walls and makeing a cage theme to go along throughout the room, any ideas?

Oh my gosh that is soo cool!! I was thinking about making an open range for my piggies, but mom said no! I think what you have is a great solution compared to the store bought cage. I have a question though- Are you getting Furby a partner? Just a question.... You have great ideas!!

How do you figure out the square footage?.... I don't know....

o its just length multiplied by width, I used my rooms dementions as a average for the room downstairs... It would be soo cool if I can get it cleaned out soon!!! I asked my mom if I could put a nice big cage for furby in there if I can get it cleaned up, and she said it could be sort of a project. I've looked around a bit for a buddy, that I am not sure of right now, my parents think not but if she will be downstairs who knows, they may not mind at all. I have no idea what kinda cage I would be making, but it will be large if I do make it. Mom said maybe we could paint it down there. Thanks, I figure that she could have the floor too because its not like anybody is walking around there unless they have a reason. Ill need to figure out some sort of material though because the floor is just bare wood (we never got around to putting the carpet in). I went down there and the window is much bigger then I rember, Its a PERFECT place for my mini pig palace, hehe it may just be queen furby though if my parents dont change their mind.

I still have no idea how to connect pieces of large cloroplasts to make a huge cage, has anyone ever done this or have any ideas?

O yes, and nobody worry, there are thick draps because its a south facing window

alot of nice fresh air when its good weather outside! She will have a lil cage in my room so she can hang out with me for awhile every day

Awesome idea! I love it! Furby will love it too! It will be so close to being like their enviroment when they were free! (well a small fraction of it but still totally awesome!)
Hmm well personally I think you should have a rescue! Because you have so much space etc, but thats just my idea lol. I am in rescue mode lol............. Anyways you could have a ton of piggs in 9x3x9x3!
Well it is rather hard to explain how to connect coroplast peices, I am not even going to try knowing my history of explaining lol..... But anyways you rock! Your pigg will love you!

ya, If I can get it cleaned up it will totally rock... But its a total disaster zone down there which means work work work! i donno im just sorta guessing what I might be able to fit in there, so I can leave the floor somewhat free for her to roam in and out of the cage (Ill keep her supplies in the closet). I donno if my mom will be happy with such an enormus cage, but I dont see why not, shes never down there. I think I'll just try to talk her into a second pig for now ;) but ya if I can get that spare room to myself Its rescue all the way lol... Sept I really dont have any money to start one hehe

It would be really good to have a rescue around here! The pigs listed in places like the newspaper or the local swap and shop and gone in the same day, and there are so many people who accidently breed them, go to college, and just dont want them anymore, but somehow there arnt any pigs availble around here anywhere because they go so fast (prob cuz rescues are over an hour away from here if they even have a pig, ones in town are dogs cats and bunnies ect.)

Please do try explaining, I have no clue how connecting it would work

I mean I have some money... But you cant start a rescue if you just spent all your money on material for the floor and a huge cage lol.... How many would fit in an average 9x3x9x3x10x3 that would cover all three walls, the first nine could be a ten I spose, Id need to go measure just to make sure, but how many pigs would that work for?

Im so glad I rembered that room existed, I was trying to convince my folks to put a cage in my sis' room while she is at college (would have never happened lol)

O ya, and how much cleaning/matinence would a cage that big need??

Also for however many pigs that would fit, how much will feed/hay will I go through and how fast if I had that many?

hehe I just realized how long 9x3x9x3x10x3 is, its almost a sentance, lol Im too cool

There are two guinea pig rescues in St. Paul, so your statement about 'no rescues around here' is incorrect.

Rescuing is not a decision to be taken lightly. You don't want to just plunge right into it. It doesn't matter that you have tons of space. Logistically I could fit hundreds of guinea pigs in my house, but it doesn't matter because I couldn't care for that many.

Having lots of pigs can be fun, but realistically you provide a much better home when you aren't stress out by all the things you have to do for all those pigs. If you want to interact with more pigs, get together with someone else and play with their pigs for a while. Visit the pigs at the shelter and just hold them.

You know what would be a great goal? Build a 2 x 6 C&C cage and put Furby and another female pig in it. Enjoy your pigs, spoil them, and give them a good life. Foster other guinea pigs when you have the time and resources.

I don't know how old you are, but I would guess that by the time your pigs are older (4+ years) you're going to be an older teenager and there's going to be a lot of other stuff in your life. In a few years you might not want to concentrate on a bunch of pigs. Take it slow, enjoy what you have.

However, what you have now needs a friend. I have a darling single sow in mind, she's a ridgeback pig and she would like a home. PM me if you want more info.

I don't know how to connect two peices of coro together but it's bound to be on this site.

O i just ment that alot of people around here would rather buy from the petstore if they need to go out of their way to adopt. Nope Im not starting a rescue, just hopefully two in a large cage, dont know size yet but Id like the width to be 3 maybe I will build a 3x4 or 3x5. Great! I will pm you about the sow.

so, quite a bit smaller then i originally thought, but maybe I will build a bigger one, who knows. Either way my second possible pig and furby would still probably have the room to themself (sort of a freerange/cage set up for the room).

I think you can add pieces of coroplast together. But i don't know exactly how, you could try using duct tape or something.

ok, I think I may still make a large cage even if its just for two pigs

Hi everyone, I live in Holland and have just recently acquired two male pets, Fatty & Muffin. Now I am having a problem finding Cubes & Coroplast in this country. Have tried everything. HELP!!!!!!!!!

Favaux

mmm.. I really donno, Im from the US, but if youve tried "everything" why are you asking? and what does that have to do with my idea to put a cage in my guestroom? lol just curious

Wow, thats such a huge space. Since you have only one pig at the mo I would assume that you wouldn't have a lot of mess. You should probably opt for fleece since bedding wold cost you an absolute fortune.

I had to tape 2 pieces of coroplast together to get my 2x6. I used this waterproof tape that I found at home depot, I think it was in the plumbing section? It's silver like duct tape, but looks kind of link tin foil! one of my pigs took a liking to it and started to eat it, so I had to cover the exposed tape areas with fabric so that he couldn't chew it.

Good luck! the tape seems to be working well for me.

I wonder if chalking would work? It's like plastic glue you use for fish tanks and windows. Check your local hardware store. I think that would be sturdy for two peices and the pigs wouldn't chew on it.

At this point you just need to get that pig in a bigger cage.
