I put Porkchop and Applesauce on the floor together this morning and I think it is going well. They seem to be working it out. They still circle each other and make a deep rumble sound sometimes. Porkchop is not backing down as much as I thought she would. She is alot smaller than Apple. She holds her nose up in the air and rumbles as much as Apple. She give way when Apple clicks her teeth though. Is it safe to put them in the cage together without the divider?:?: Or should I leave the cage like it is and do floor time several times before I take the divider out?
Porkchop is like an inquizative little kid that is tormenting an older kid. She runs up to Apple like she will run her over then popcorn away:crackup: . She is so funny. I can almost see Apple say "Go away brat!"

What happened to quarantining in another room for 3 weeks? All piggie owners who adopt new pigs from shelters/rescues should do a strict quarantine in another cage in another room for 3 weeks. It takes about 3 weeks for many illnesses to incubate.

It's more stressful to let them be together and take them apart and put them together again than it is to just leave them together. If they aren't fighting, take the divider down and let them be together. Hopefully Applesauce doesn't have any illnesses or mites.

This is great that you got a friend for Porkchop! Good luck!

I have another question, I can't remember if you posted about it or not but is one of the pigs altered?

I thought they were both girls?

What size cage do you have? You need to clean it out, rearrange everything and have at least two of everything.

You can't just remove the divider. It has to be completely neutral territory. They each have their own side right now. Just put them together and leave them be. Don't keep introducing them and then splitting them up. It only stresses them out more because they have to do the dominance dance all over again.

They may both be girls. The name porkchop throws me off and makes me think male.

Both of them are girls and they are getting along great. No battles at all. If Apple gets to following Porkchop to much she lifts her rear and sprays pee on Apple. Apple sees the rear go up she runs. Porkchop has a deadly weapon, at least thats what the kids say. As to cage size the bottom level is 4x5 and the top is 2x3. They don't use to top. They haven't even climbed the ramp. I have 2 houses Porkchop runs Apple out of them both, 2 food dishes and 1 large water bottle. They have tunnels and toys and gets lots of lap time. If you think they need anything else let me know. I love to spoil them.

Porkchop's name threw me off. I should have remembered whether Porkchop was a girl or a boy. My MS messes with my mind too much. I am so glad they are getting along well. To get them to go up the ramp, put veggies all along the ramp and up in the loft. That may temp them to go upstairs. Or just put them in the loft a few times.
