I've found a shelter gp that sounds like she would suit us really well, and she's still there! (the other shelters lists are very out of date and all the gp were gone).

I bought DD a guinea pig about two weeks ago, then learned of their social nature. I've been really struggling with whether to get a second one - because of space and expense issues. I'd love to rescue this little piggy though.

The only problem is that she lives a ways around here - the round trip on the ferry alone would cost $100. I'm hoping maybe someone at the shelter travels to my area occasionally.

I may have transportation - posted to my scrapbooking group, and someone is making a trip over this week. This is so cool, I'm falling in love with this little big who loves cuddles.

Oh yeah, that is a given. Kind of a chicken and an egg thing - if I get another pig I can REALLY justify a c&c cage, if I get a c&c cage, I can definately get another pig. Works for me, in a convoluted way.

Just heard back, the shelter won't let me adopt Sugar unless I go there in person. No way is Dh going to go for me spending $100 to go get a guinea pig. Very sad.

People are so nice. The girl who was going to help out with transporting Sugar has offered to "adopt" her so that she can bring her over. I'm not terribly comfortable with having her do that though - for one thing I don't want her to make the trip to find out Sugar is adopted already, and I'm just not good at being sneaky. I'm working on another option though. Haven't quite given up yet.
