I've been a Guinea Pig pet lover since June 17 2004. That is the date that has changed my life forever. Wife and I divorced. My Guinea Pigs have helped me out alot, especially in times of lonliness. It is so amazing how a pet can lift someones spirits. I've seen Guinea Pigs in pet stores and thought how un-popular pets. Boy was I wrong! I stummbeled into this awsome web site and learned so much and want to continue learning about Guinea Pigs. Has anyone purchased the Guinea pig info from Teresa on-line? Is it worth more than the pet books at the pet stores? One more question my Guinea Pigs are more active at night than by day is this normal? I'm just curious if they are running by my clock; I work by night and sleep by day. They don't even make a peep by day when I'm sleeping but at night the party is on. Cute little piggies, once I get a digital camera I'll post my pictures of my cage and my little piggies.

Hello and welcome! Glad to know that your pigs are making you happy =) They are such wonderful animals. I'm not sure which information you are talking about. Care to elaborate? If it's from Teresa, then factually it will be worth more than those stupid books at the petstore. They're outdated and inacurate. Well guinea pigs are pretty much active all day. They may be running by your clock, they may not. If you are asleep, then you wouldn't hear your pigs in the day anyway! How many do you have? Can't wait till the pictures.

I'm pretty sure that what you'll buy will be worth your money. Teresa always gives out the best information

Glad your enjoying your piggies. My piggies seem to be quiet at night when I go to sleep and are active in the morning when I wake up. I think they adjust their schedules to mine.

Hello Nightowl, I too work Midnight shift. I just joined myself. I have 3 piggies and I love them to pieces. I have learned so much from this site.
when I am at a slow area of work I get on the forum and just read and read. This is an awsome site.

One of our guinea pigs slams the water bottle against the side of the cage at 2:30am every morning. Haven't figured out who it is, because by the time we get up to look, they're both peacefully "sleeping". I think guinea pigs may run on their own schedule that I will never understand!

Hello and welcome to the forum,

I also can't believe how much fun and interesting a guinea pig could be.

Nightowl, welcome to the forums! Pigs have a way of worming their way into your heart. I had no idea how much I would love them. I got them for my daughters, but it seems they are mine now. (Like they weren't from the beginning! LOL) However, it is unreal the amount of work they are. I worry about them constantly, clean their cage constantly, think of ways to make them happier, CONSTANTLY! Somewhere in another thread someone said once a cavy slave, always a cavy slave, well, I can definitly see that happening to me. I actually think my husband is warming up to them, finally. He's always wanting to make their hidey-houses better.

Denise I could have written your post word for word. Right down to my husband warming up to them. Too funny

Nightowl, I have basically gotton into the same situation. In Aug, 2003, my wife wanted a Guine Pig. I bought her one. One month later, I bought her another. In Jan. 2004, my wife dissappeared back to England for good. Left me with 2 Guinea Pigs that I didn't really know anything about. Immediatly, I sold my fish tank which was taking up space and built a 2x6 c&c cage with a 2x3 extension on wheels in it's place and started really studying up on Guinea Pigs. I have really learned so much from this site and Guinea Lynx and my exotic animal vet. In October 2004, I adopted 2- 4 week old babies from the local rescue. And I have had all four neutered. Last Sunday, I adopted a beautiful female from the same rescue and they have been sheer joy for this old man. My pigs all go th the vet every other month for a check up automatically. So it's true, they can really bring cheer and joy. And even though they are downstairs every day in my office with me, at 4:00pm, we go upstairs to their nighttime cage, and from 4 til 10, they have floor time, on my bed, and they really have a ball. Check out my site in the members list and you will see what they go through every night. I am in the process of extending my ramps, etc. I just can't seem to have much room for much more extensions.
Good luck and have fun.

Cornhill, when my friends chide me about my cavy obsessions I show them your photos. It's clear you're not only head over heels in love with your pigs, you're pretty darn creative with those C&C grids!.

I personally think Cornhill needs to get out more. -). That is just a joke, I couldn't resist.

I show this picture to my husband when he starts to hound me with how nuts I am with my piggies.
