Ah...now THAT got your attention... ;)

I need some ideas. What sort of images would look good on a sports drink label. Which colours would fit this type of product? What should the font (lettering) look like?

Please could you help me by just saying what would look good on a label? :)

Colors- Sky Blue, some pastel/bright colors to draw people attention.

As for images, maybe all around the name of the drink have a tennis ball, baseball bat, football helmet, running shoes, etc. Sports equiptment.

The font should stand out, also.

Sorry, I'm probably not much of a help.

If you would have said lemons instead of oranges I would have burst out with fits of laughter. Back home we say "Go suck a lemon" instead of a certain crude phrase. Even my grandmother used to say it.

My husband *does* eat lemons. That really seems to get people's attemtion.

As for your product, it depends on what you are going for. If you want to promote the energy enhancing properties then I would go for orange and red. For cooling properties I would use blue and green. To grab people's attention use a blue/orange combo. They are complimentary colours, but they don't look strange and x-masy like red and green do.

As for a picture, I would take something that exemplifies what you are trying to say about your product (it makes you fast, refreshed, etc.) and reduce that image to a simple icon. The icons on this site are a good example.

Here is a good font site.

I would stay away from sports equiptment. You don't want to get yourself in a niche for one or two sports. Some sports don't have equiptment and you can't include every sport on you label anyway. You also don't want the label to look too busy. Remember, if this was a real drink (I'm assuming this is a school project) you would need room from the ingredients, nutitional value and maybe even a short blurb about what it does. You also don't want people who don't participate in sports not to notice your product. Just because that's what it's for doesn't mean that's *all* it's for. You always want to include as many people as humanly posible in your target group.

Hope I was helpful.

Ok just think...Make a list...

Whats related with sports...
(Write down all your ideas on whats related to sports...)

The best way to determine colors..
(Go to your local grocery store and stand in the isle that has all the sports drink stuff in it)..Write down the colors you see...

As far as a font..be creative and make your own;)....I do it all the time...

I am a graphic designer...And when I get a client that needs a logo design or what ever, I gather all the info I need about the company and what they relate too...

I write down all my ideas and then sort them out..I sit down and sketch many thumbnails of what the product would look like in different variations....

Are you doing this on the computer? How are you going to finalize the comp...Let me know and Ill try and help ya out some more...

I do too... lol.

I suck lemons. It's fun ;)

Thank you everyone. I totally forgot about the phrase 'Go suck a lemon'. We say it too!

I have my graphics exam tomorrow (God help me) and all we know is that it has something to do with soft drink/sport drinks. So, I thought to help me make designs I would get some 'feedback' from clients. I too was thinking of using orange/blue and maybe touches of yellows. I've thought of a font (it's so cool!) and a picture. The trouble is, in the exam you have to think up of 3 designs, but when I know what my final is going to be I find it hard to think of other designs. Anywho, that's enough ranting for one day.

Lost-Soul, I am too thinking of going into graphic design. Is it good? Is it as enjoyable as you though it would be?

I really must go, need to do english revision as well

Well when I was deciding to go to college, I wanted to become a therapist...But I changed my mind and figured I would do what I loved best, and that is art...For me here over in the states I have my own business, I do graphic design and I airbrush on the side...When I was in search for a job after I graduated I had a really hard time finding one...I love what I do though...Thats when I decided to venture out on my own...It can be fustrating, and clients can be a challenge..Oh boy! I had one client that I had to come up with 20 comps of his logo..Let me tell you I was at my wit end by the time it was all said and done...When I take on a client I usually only do 10 comps and let them pick the one they like the most...And then I go from there...

Do you work with any design software yet? I work with Adobe..I have the whole Adobe Package...I love working with illustrator the most...

Good luck with your exam:)

good luck piglet i took my maths exam today, did you? i had to take the higher paper and when i got near the end i thought F**k that and started singing to myself.

Bromers, I had my non calculator paper today and it was in higher teir too *cries* 5 days of revision did not pay off. My heart sank when I turned the pages - I couldn't understand any of the questions.

Are you doing AQA or Edexel. AQA is a piss take. I was doing past papers and nearly got 100% Edexel (My exam board) are so frikin hard. But for the mock you only needed to get 45% to get an A becauase the paper was so hard!

Also, I had my IT exam. However, that is an extra gcse which I do after school. For 2 years I hadn't learnt a thing -I didn't even know the definition of a computer! So, when I walked in me and my friends were so unprepared. I knew absolutely nothing and I'm not exaggerating! So that was a sure fail.

I only know how to use CAD/CAM, Pro Desktop, Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro(my best friend - by using that I got an A in my coursework). At my age, you don't get taught a lot of packages at school.

Bromers, one peice of advice for english - READ the literature books and poems before you go into the exam!!!!!

Oh, and thank you Lost_soul! :)

i think im doing edexel. It was ok it was just the last 3 questions. Also about sucking oranges i knew you was wierd and you just proved it. I think blue is a safe good colour to go with.

The title does have some relevance to my day! You know the triangle for scale factor is new length = scale factor x old length? Well, we were trying to figure out a way of remembering it and we thought of Nav (friends name) sucks oranges! It was the same for me - the first half of the paper was a breeze and then on about question 15 they were really really difficult. I'm fine with maths in class, I was even predicted an A* but I just can't face the exams.

My design is a running person who will be coloured in in a gradient affect - light blue to dark blue. Then there are like these "swoosh" marks coming out behind him in blue/orange. Then the name will be in orange.

So do I! lol I love lemons..

Whenever we go to the Pasta House, I order a bunch of lemons... I just ask them for a plate of lemons. They give us pretty big slices, so my record was I ate 6 slices in like 2 minutes. It's not easy, you guys who like lemons should try it! :D

Oh, and good luck Piglet on your.. thingie...test...yeah..

Hmm....it was ok. I was lucky and did get sports drinks instead of ordinary soft drinks. The desgin section I probably aced because I had prepared for it and I can draw. The knowledge section was just a total disaster. What idiots think of the questions? So let's just hope my coursework grade (it is worth 60% of the total grade) will allow me to pass with an A.
