I knew he was blind BUT!

hahahaha, this is halarious....sorry its not funny for you guineagurl...i just cant believe how negative everybody is....if there happy thats all that matters, ive heard of other people keeping rabbits and guinea's together...also at the pet stores (although i know they do a lot of things wrong) the rabbits are in a cage right beside the guinea pigs....i dont really see the difference between that and what your doing.....Good luck with everything and hopefully your piggy will stop being a homosexual rabbit lover (not that there is anything wrong with that!) Oh by the way im not an American...just thought id make it clear

Just a thought from one of the earlier posts ...

I didn't know that human beings carried bacteria that could infect guinea pigs. There aren't many diseases that jump species - I would love to know about this bacteria you mentioned, GuineaGurl. I'm a nurse, so I want to warn my medical community about it.

Ferrets can get human diseases like the flu

Okay ferrets ... but what about guinea pigs?

Im not exactly sure, i know gp's can carry salmonella but im not sure if they get it from human contact

Ah bite me... i dont know what bacteria but im sure there must be some.,
Germs are germs arnet they,,,

Thanks Danelion, nice of ya.... Its nice to see someone other than myelf with a sence of humor. And yeah they were together in the petstore cage that i bought all of them from so they were all together and really arnet happy apart. The change in all of them is quiet distinct when i put them in together, they love it. Lol @ Yank .......

As for susan9608, Im sooo dissapointed with you, We share the same name but what a stick in the mud you seem... ur lettin the name down hun!

Y'all Hypocryts!

Disappointed in me? Gosh, that hurts ... My self-esteem is so dependent on your approval. I simply don't know how I will continue on .... what is my life worth if someone with very poor spelling and grammar finds me to be a "stick in the mud"?

Germs, "Hun", are not germs as you so eloquently stated. There are many diseases that cannot pass from human to other species and vice versa. I have never heard of a disease that was contagious between guinea pigs and humans. Forgive me for wanting to expand my intellectual horizons and educate myself on this strain of bacteria you claim can pass from humans to guinea pigs.

I suggest you don't go pontificating about subjects you don't have much knowledge about, Hun. Better to be a "stick-in-the-mud" than ignorant.

And as for biting you - no thanks! I have an aversion to germs. :)

Have a wonderful day, "Hun."

Whatever,,,,

Uptight smartass

Why thank you. What a wonderful compliment .... so much better to be a smartass than a dumb one, don't you think? :)

I don't think he was "doing the dirty" on the rabbit. Mounting can be a sign of dominance, trying to show who is boss. And guineagurl don't take our trying to educate one another about the best care of our pets as a personal attack.

And Dandelion, it's not just "if they're happy". It's about their well being as well. You wouldn't feed your kid icecream for breakfast, lunch, dinner just because it made him happy would you?

Pigs and rabbits have very different needs. They have different dietary needs and different social needs.Bottom line--they should not be housed together. If you want to foot the vet bill when your pigs get hurt, fine. Speaking of the vet... did you take your pig with the caterac to visit one?

Whats so hard about seperating your rabbits and guinea pigs? Im sure your pigs dont want to be hurt by your rabbits and your rabbits dont want to be mounted by your pig.You sound downright lazy to me.

Petstores are the WORST place to get info on rabbits or guinea pigs. Sure they house them together. Some petstores have pregnant, sick, and dying animals for sale too.

If you two arent careful your going to get banned.

Sure thats probally what it was & still is but it still looks like thats what hes trying.

As i said somewhere above, if a spacific question is thrown at me or others , its pretty obvious the poster has a problem with that?
Everybody pretends it wanst meant in the manner it was written but we all know it was! Its called a low blow.

Im not ignorant, Im not a germ ....not dumb, for the most part i can spell... sometimes i make typo's, sometimes i forget my brain,
I havnt had my pets for all that long and my posts are ALLWAYS sincere so
why are there so many negative posters on here?
I honestly never gave germs or bacteria a thought, food differences YES i did!

Hun is a friendly term, but Susan even took offence to that .....
So again i say this IS an uptight forum.

We are trying to educate you. When you get stubbor and dont listin to our advice people get frustated. We want the best for your animals. To do that we have to educate you.

You just said you are a new owner, please take the time to listin and dont just go off in a huff. Words on the computer screen can look harsher than they were ment to be.

By the way Susan, I didnt mean you.

Why am i lazy?
Yes i took him to the Vet as soon as i noticed it..
He told me he was blind!

Now he seems to be able to see so it seems its clearing up.
Im not taking him back to make sure because I cant AFFORD it right now,,

I think i said above somewhere they are NOT allways housed together, the rabbits are usually outside but the rain was heavy so i didnt have a choice but to bring them in.

I know pet stores arnet allways good, they make me sick but the one i got them from isnt too bad.
Should i not enjoy my pets just because i got them from somewhere that wasnt a rescue centre? The pound's near me (2) within 50 kms didnt have GP's anyhow.

Anyhow there not in with the pigs now so theres no point continuing this.
I dont disserve to be banned, i only stood up for myself.

I kinda do take offence to lazy,
If anything i work myself into the ground so im not lazy thankyou.
4pets, 5 kids, no help, the only time i get to be lazy is
when i pop back here to refresh the page and respond.
Try being lazy with 3 kids under 3.

Im sorry if I made you upset.

I called you lazy because it sounded to me like you just didnt want to take the time to house you animals seperatly.

I was just wondering about the vet. Cloudy eyes can be cause by a few different things.

Many people here got their first pigs from petstores.

Thank you for taking our advice.

I still dont know what happened to his eye.
I think some hay scratched it but i dont know for sure but there
was a definate scratch on the cornea area that we could see.

Well no one called you lazy to my mind. I see why you are feeling attacked, I've been there. I think it would be perfectly fine if you gave the very monitered floor time together, but say if one of your young kids starts crying, loudly, at night or anytime and startles a rabbit, who inturn juump from its cuddle with the guinea pig, and crushes it.
This is why some people are being, well, kinda mean. Also, I may not be all knowing about rabbits, but I go buy pets live in side livestock lives outside. Maybe you could build them a cage inside.
I know nothing we say can MAKE you change your mind, maybe you just have to experience something bad. I truly believe that someone whose posted here can influence you and that nothing happens to your poor pigs or bunnies, who must be very cute.

Sorry i saw were it said lazy, i was being lazy lol

It's an interesting way you have of "standing up" for yourself .... by referring to others as "arrogant yankees", "hypocrits", "stick-in-the-mud", "smartass", and by stating how "disappointed" you are in others. And of course you were being nice by referring to others as "hun" ... that is, of course, a polite and not at all condescending way to refer to a total stranger.

If I offended you, I am deeply sorry. I have to point out, though, that I simply asked what bacteria it is that can be passed from humans to guinea pigs ... a thought that you had started in your earlier post. Again, I must say, you shouldn't bring up topics if you aren't fully equipt to discuss them. But then, I guess that's just my non-sense of humor talking.

Perhaps you were simply looking for a way to defend keeping your rabbits and guinea pigs together and spoke out of turn about human beings transmitting infectious agents to guinea pigs. And I think everyone else is just trying to point out to you that keeping rabbits and guinea pigs together is probably not the smartest idea.

But I realize that my opinions on this are totally unsolicited, so I am going to go nurse my wounded ego in private and try to develop a sense of humor while I plan a move to some where south of the equator, so as to avoid being an arrogant Yankee.

Have a lovely evening. :)
