I have a Question to ask....

now that summer is around the corner, i like to buy my fresh fruits and veggies at a local famers market near were i live, i had bought them their usual fruits and veggies for the week and i had bought some peaches for myself. to make long story short, i had noticed that everytime i come into the room with a peach, my girls all get very excited and kinda beg me for a piece with all the weeking and jumping they do, but i'm not sure weither or not to give it to them, i've tried lookng on the web and in books to see if peaches are safe for them too eat, but haven't found anything  . so i was wondering if any body knows if its safe for them to eat, caues it breaks my heart to see them beg for it and cant get (their cute little eyes staring at you as they start to squeak softly)

Re: I have a Question to ask....

If you search Google for Guinea Pig and Peach you'll find a number of GP sites include peaches as safe to eat.
Don't feed the pit, branches or leaves as they are harmfull.
Fruit should be fed in moderation - one or two portions a week.
Our boys have never been much interested in the fruits I've offered them, perhaps I'll try peach...

Re: I have a Question to ask....

thanks, i wasn't too sure if it was safe for them too eat, i thought that since some peaches tend to be on the soft side i thought it might make their stool too soft, so now i'll see if they like it or if its just the fact that they see me with food and they want to eat too even though they have their own food, lol

Re: I have a Question to ask....

Yes peach is safe though my pigs aren't that keen on it. But then they always leave any fruit till last. One they do like (and is high in vit c) is kiwi. They can eat the whole friut including the skin

Re: I have a Question to ask....

That's great :) My son loves them too and always gives his skins to the pigs to save wasting them. At first the pigs only ate the skin, not the fruit (which is why we started giving them our skins rather than whole fruits) but now they will eat it all.
