On my day off, I took a trip up to Cincinnati to visit some friends and I stopped by a cavy rescue called "This Little Piggy and Me" on my way home. These wonderful folks have over 40 piggies in rescue and all are spoiled rotten in huge C&C cages. Much to my surprise, I came home with four new girls, which makes my herd a total of eight sows!

Here is a link to their website: (broken link removed)

Here is their piggy room (awesome!): (broken link removed)

And here are all the current adoptables, though not all piggies are featured: https://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi?action=1&pet.Shelterid=OH419&preview=1

Now it is time for another C&C cage expansion and this WILL be the last time!

Here they are:

Wow! What sweet girls! That is a lot of piggies.

Yes it is a lot of piggies, but it's nowhere near 40 and I try to help out when I can. There are no rescues in central KY that I'm aware of and "This Little Piggy" is full to capacity with pigs overflowing into other rooms of the house. Because I have the space, time, and money to help these gals (not to mention they're all beautiful!) so I could not turn them down. They will have a forever home here with me.

They are beautiful! My favorite are the Texels.

Ohhhhh, soooo cute! I love the little brown teddy bear (if that is correct name) one. Congratulations! :0)

Congratulations on your new girls! They are very photogenic :). I can see why you couldn't resist them. I am glad I'm not the only one with 8 piggies!

Hi Plummie,

Congratulations! Our family just got our first two piggies two weeks ago from This Little Piggie and Me. They are wonderful (the piggies and the rescue). They let me and my daughter Sophia sit with a bunch of them to help make up our minds.

What are their names? Ours are Kambiri and Cayenne (look at my avatar for some small pictures, working on getting some better ones). If I remember correctly, and if I'm looking at the pictures right, I think maybe your baby (the first picture) might be one of Kambiri's children (Kambiri is on the left in my picture).

Congratulations! Now, how about a road trip to NY to double your herd again? ;~) I've got 40 piggies here in need of super homes too! ;~) Enjoy your pretty girls!

Plummie- thank you for sharing the website of the shelter where you adopted your girls. They have a very inspirational story and are so caring about their animals. I wish more people were like them!

Hi again, Ace! The little gray one they call "Gracie" though I might change her name, IS in fact, the daughter of your Kambiri! You can see her here with her brothers and sisters: (broken link removed)=

You have the mom of my new baby, that is terrific! I'd love to see pics of your new girls when you post them. Karen and Steven who run TLP & Me are the sweetest people, and I bought four of their pine houses to help support the rescue. The girls LOVE them!!! They are doing a wonderful thing for the guinea pig community.

I love the black one

Oh, wow they are all gorgeous! Congrats on the new additions. AmiableAnimals I would come take a piggy off your hands if I could…but I think my mom would kill me. I recently adopted two pigger from The Critter Connection and they are wonderful!

Plummie,

I'm so happy your four new piggies found a good home! I remember Gracie. My youngest daughter's middle name is "Grace", so that clicked with me. Kambiri (you can call her Kambi, since you're family :) ) didn't stand out on Petfinder, and wasn't at the top of mine or my daughter's list when we went down there. But once we were in the play area with her and maybe 10-12 others, her sweet personality shown through and won our hearts. She's also very curious, but not obnoxiously so (like Cayenne). She explores with a purpose, while Cayenne just likes to run.

Kambi is also a "sniffer". She is always smelling the air with her nose, especially when she thinks treats are coming, and she will always sniff my finger or hand if I put it in the cage. You can see that trait in the pictures below (click each image for a larger view) she even likes to sniff the camera. She doesn't talk as much as Cayenne, or popcorn as much. Everything she does, she does with purpose. She loves to sit in my lap to be petted.

Here are some pictures. I'll talk more about Cayenne later, but I thought Gracie and you might like to know a little more about Gracie's mom. I don't know if Karen told you the story of Kambiri, but she and three boys were found in a park and given to the Dayton Area Humane Society. Being with three boys, she found herself pregnant.

Cayenne, her brother, and her father were found by a concerned lady who was driving on a road in Sydney, Ohio (north of Dayton). They were in a laundry basket on a hot 90 degree day next to a boy yelling "Free Guinea Pigs" to passing cars. Not wanting them to end up mistreated or as food, she picked them up and called Karen.

This is where Cayenne and Kambi's lives come together. Dayton is about half-way between Sydney and Cincinnati. So Karen agrees to meet her at the Dayton Area Humane Society to do the transfer. While Karen is there, she discovers Kambi and the three boys that were found in a park and brings them home too.

Here are the pictures. Almost every picture I've taken of Cayenne is blurry, she's just too fast :). Every picture without flash of her, which I think looks better, is blurry, but here are two with flash, including the picture of which my avatar is based. Kambiri loves her picture taken, as you can see. I'm going to enter the first picture in a county fair contest, I'll let you know how it does. Please keep me posted on Gracie's progress.

Congratulations on the new herd additions! They are all beautiful!

Aw, congratulations! If only I had known about the rescue before, I was in Ohio 2 weeks ago! Maybe I would've succeeded in bringing home another pig!

Thank you all!!

Kambi and Cayenne are just beautiful. Gracie looks like her mother Kambi, with the gray and white. I didn't know Kambi or Cayenne's story but it sounds like they were VERY lucky pigs to end up at TLP & Me and then finally to a wonderful home with you. It saddens me to see how many piggies are dumped outside to sit in the heat in a box, or set free to fend for themselves. I am so thankful they ended up in good hands!

I will keep you updated on my little girl's progress, she's so tiny right now!!

All your girls are so gorgeous! Congrats on the new piggers!

Your girls are all so adorable, Plummie! That is so cool of you to take 4 more in, and what great cages for them to enjoy!! I wish I could take more in, but my hubby has cut me off at 4. Hopefully later this year I can get him to change his mind. :) Enjoy all your girls!
