I called an animal eye vet and I asked how much it would cost to have entropion surgery and shes like

"well an office call is $55"..
"are you sure its entropion.."
I'm like "Yes, I went to the vet clinic yesterday and she gave me your number"
shes like "You might want to make sure it's entropion, it's not real common for guinea pigs to have entropion.."

Um yeah it is...I've heard of a lot of people whose guinea pigs had entropion, and well mine has it. How is it not possible? And what the heck does "well an office call is $55" supposed to mean?? She just said that when I asked her how much it would be

You were talking to a receptionist. Many do not even have any knowledge about animals, they just answer phones, and take down your information.

It means an office call is $55. She can't tell you how much it would be to treat/remove it because she probably didn't know because the price could be different every time.

I think it was her home phone number. It wasent the clinic. I know, but what is an office call?

An office call is the price you have to pay to walk into the clinic, it usually includes a physical exam, just like when you go to the doctor.

Jeez, $55.. I dont need a checkup because I already had one at the other clinic, but she wouldnt tell me a price for the operation.

You will have to pay an office call anywhere you go. You will need another checkup because it is a different vet and you need a physical exam before surgery. She probably didn't know the exact cost of the surgery because she has not seen your guinea pig, and it's serverity.

My aunts vet couldn't tell her the cost of her dogs hip replacement until he examed the dog himself assessed the situation.

Is there a reason you're switching clinics? If it is because the new clinic is better in dealing with guinea pigs, then it is important to pay for the exam. They may find something the other vet missed. Also, before surgery they will probably need bloodwork, which is an additional expense. In addition, you will need to provide aftercare, which includes pain medication and antibiotics. This is a large responsibility. Are you paying for this yourself, or are you parents involved?

Good Luck.
