Quick question...

I am tring to house my three boys together, so I am starting the introductions. Anywho, I still have a female to house and she will life in anoher house. Is i ok if her cage is a few feet from the boys? or will they still fight about her?

Desi-
Did you say you need to house a female?

I would have the female in a different room, or, if that's not possible, keep them as far away from the boys cage as you can. As it is 3 boys you are trying to introduce, it is possible that they will fight if they smell a female.

Are you going to get a friend for the female piggy?

I don't think that will work out - they would be able to smell her from the cage and may fight. It would be better if she could be housed in another room.

I've been thinking of adopting one or more cavies. I already have 3 girls. Should I get girls? I was thinking about rescuing a few boys and dividing the cage (after I extended it of course). Not a good idea, huh? What if the boys are both neutered? Could they live next door or what about w/ the 3 girls?

If the boys smell a female they will fight. I had bloodshed when I had a female. I found a good home for her with another female.

Ok I'll have to tell my son that he'll definitely be outnumbered. :) He'll just have alot of sisters. Two human ones and 3 cavy ones for now. I may be adopting another girl anyways w/in the next few weeks. A friend's daughter rescued one from a petstore (whew-I know that's bad) but anyways, she's not sure she wants to keep it. I told her I'd take the cavy in. I've really gotten into this cavy business. I love my girls. I think about them all the time and I even have their pigtures on my desk (w/ my three human children). Anyways, I was just curious because I've seen the galleries and several other cavy lovers have several cavies-both girls and boys but in separate cages.
