Hiya,

My guinea pig Ekeko will not stop chewing on her wooden house. It’s a guinea pig safe wood, but that’s beside the point! She will have it all gobbled up at this rate! There are a number of wooden chew toys in the cage as well as other boredom breakers and chew tunnels etc. The other guinea pig has never chewed the house, its just Ekeko.

I was wondering how else to stop this, its not a case of having nothing else to chew, there is plenty of space and she has company.

Are the no-chew spray that you buy in pet shops really ok? I know they say non toxic on them and that they are specially for guinea pigs but I’m just not convinced. Has anyone else had an issue like this with one of their cavies?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Ekeko is one the right, looking all innocent! (Ilya looks very grumpy for some reason lol)

Stay away from Bitter Apple. I bought it one time to use on a guinea pig that was being barbered. I got some on a cut and it really stung. I'd never use it on anything that animals come in contact with now.

Try rubbing a lemon or grapefruit on it. It may not work for all pigs, but mine hate citrus fruit.

Oh i have some lemon in the fridge so i'll try that now as she is chewing right now as i type! Thank you.
