Hello everyone ^_^

While it isn't always necessary to give your piggies a bath, do any of you do it and if so how often? If your guinea pig is long-haired how often do you trim the fur? How often do you trim their nails? If they're a boar, how often do you clean the sac?

For me, I only give him a bath when he gets really dirty or smelly which is pretty rare. I trim his fur every two weeks and nails every month(They don't grow very fast) and I only clean his sac when it really needs to be cleaned but check it everyday.

Also, since it does depend on the bedding you use, the size of the cage and how many pigs you have, how often do you change your cavies' cages?

It's just something I'm curious about :)

Pigs don't really need a bath, unless they get stinky or dirty. Too much bathing will result in dried out skin. (I don't have long hairs, can't answer that question). I trim nails every week or two (Depending on how fast they grow). (I don't have boars, can't answer that).

Mercedes I haven't bathed my piggies yet (got two in October and two last week), but I am planning bath them when I introduce them to each other. After that I'll probably try to do a bath every 2-3 months or so.
All my pigs are Abys, but Tupac has a kind of thin halo of long hair that tends to grow out on her rear half and just looks really unkept :p, so I'll typically trim that down once a month or so. I use a pair of thinning shears and a regular grooming scissors. The thinning shears help to make the trim look more natural instead of a straight cut-off line.
For my two younger girls, I trim every couple of weeks or so, and my new girls around once or twice a week. Before I got them, their nails were allowed to grow dangerously long, so I'm slowly working them shorter.
and just like MochaAndMoo I only have girls, so I can't answer your last Q :cheerful:

I'm going to groom Oliver every day, like I always do with my piggies, or any creature that comes into my home.
