How much have you spent?!

WOW... you guys spend so little on your piggies! you guys are so lucky! i guess because i live in hawaii pretty much everything is more expensive. sucks!

here is my breakdown:

pellets: $13 (2 month supply = $6.50 a month)
veggies: $5 a week ($20 month)
bedding: $5 month
hay: $16 month

so grand total... about $47.50 a month. and that doesnt include the vet bills!

i give my piggies whatever veggies that are in my fridge that my mom bought
one box of pellets probably last for one month so that costs about $5.50
hay lasts for about 3 weeks and it costs around $6.00
i use newspaper bedding so its completely free.!!
so.. overall, it probably cost me $11.50, overall.. probably $20 a month..

Ice_on_fire, does your mother even get the right veggies and fruits that you can give your piggies? I wouldn't know, because I buy my own veggies and my guinea pigs have their own mini fridge. All theirs, I usually can't close the door sometimes it is so stuffed!

I am 15 *turned 15 in September* (even though you didn't ask me lol) but I asked and the work permit and it is 14 here in Oregon. But not every place will accecpt you. But places like Dairy Queen will. I was going to get a job there but at the time was too busy. And now I am still too busy lol.Maybe in the summer. lol

Let's see... with three pigs, I spend about $2 a week on veggies (I usually buy a head of lettuce - about $.80 - a cucumber - about the same - and some parsley or cilantro - about $.50). Bedding's tricky - i put about a fourth of a bag of Carefresh and a fourth of a bag of aspen in every two weeks, so probably around... $5 every two weeks? Pellets are cheap and last a long time - maybe $5 a month for those. And then hay, maybe $10 a month. Those big bags last a long time.

So...
$8 a month on veggies
$10 a month on bedding
$5 a month on pellets
$10 a month on hay
______
$33 a month

Of course, that's on three pigs... when it was just Poppy, I was probably spending about $20 a month - didn't use Carefresh, and didn't have to change the bedding as often... less hay used per month, less pellets too.

That actually sounds kind of high, I'm just guessing on most of this. Never really thought about it

That dosen't sound high at all! Lol do you buy pet store bought hay? Your hay is expensive!! For my piggies, I get a bale of hay for 4.50 and that lasts way more than 2 months too, and I have lots of piggies!!

Oh yeah, the lettuce we get comes in very large heads, and the cucumbers are big... large bunches of parsley/cilantro, too. It pays to be military ^_^

I get my veggies for free. I work at Subway and I get greenpeppers, tomatoes, romane lettuce, cucumbers, and spinach for free. I spend about 8 dollars for a 10lbs bag of food, 7 dollars for the biggest bag of bedding a month. Now I will be spending 15 dollars a month on food cause I got 12 piggies now. Total combine I would say about 25 bucks a month on food and bedding for piggies and bunnies. I have 2 bunnies as well.
