First, thank you everyone for all your messages and advice since we first brought Muffin home last week. She is the coolest thing ever! She loves her home but is very, very sad that her new friend is a boy and thus they can't play together. He snuck into her cage yesterday and they were huddled together, but we caught them as soon as it happened (we were in the room) and now they are in different rooms. He's a charmer and though we're sad we can't keep him, our friend in another village said she really would like one. We'll be getting Muffin a little girl playmate and her current friend a boy playmate - so that will make 4 piggies we saved from being eaten! Woohoo!

Second, I have made an arrangement with some of the kids in the fora who have agreed to forage for grasses for Muffin once a week! They brought us a bag yesterday and Muffin went NUTS. We have the rest of the bag outside drying and hopefully it'll turn into hay nicely; otherwise we're happy to at least have grass. I don't know what will happen as we move more into the dry season (the rain season just ended, and won't start again until next August), but if the grass drying works out we may be able to just get a bunch more each week and start saving it. PHEW.

Third, how long do your pellets last? As in, if you purchase a 10lb bag of Timothy pellets, how long would it last for two piggies, assuming 1/2c per day total? Also, does anyone know the dimentions of the bag of 10lbs from say Kleenmama's? If there is any way for us to afford to get pellets we'd like to, but as I mentioned before it costs $50 for up to 20lbs in the pre made box, so if 20lbs would last us a good long while then we could possibly do it but if it would only last us maybe 2 months we wouldn't be able to.

Thank you all again for your help, it's been much appreciated!!

Ok, if my math is good here there are 16 oz. in 1 pound of food so 20lbs. x 16oz. = 320oz. 1/2 cup = 4oz. 320oz. divided by 4 = 80 so you should get about 80 days worth of feedings out of a 20lb. bag give or take.

Wow! Your good! I am not that quick with the numbers! I just knew that I get about 2 months out of my 25 pound bag!

I have a 10lb bag of KM's Timothy pellets due to be at my house the 14th and it's being shipped alone, so I'll let you know how it comes in and the dimensions of the box.

I'm not sure if that's quite right...pounds are a weight measurement while cups are a volume measurement.

For one pig, it would last, about at least two months, more than likely more than that.
