How long does lap time usually last for each pig? My pigs time varies from anywhere to 2-80+ minutes. Normally it's in the 25-40 minute range. Mind you, I now have 4 sows. Is this long enough or too short or what? Thanks everyone! ;)

Oh wow that's amazing my boys never let me hold them for that long I wish they did that would be awesome. Rodney only lasts at max 5 mins and then starts whinging and can start chattering. Jellybean can last a little bit longer maybe about 10 mins but then he starts biting the towel and pulling at it.

I hold mine much shorter than that, I'd say 5-15 minutes, but often multiple times a night. They are good at telling me when they need the bathroom (especially Pickle) so thats usually my cue to put them back, or sometimes they just aren't feeling it

Re: How Long Do You Hold Your Pogs?

Mooshy lasts a couple minutes each out time. She's not a lap person. However she will interact with me a lot from her cage since her cage is such that we see pretty much eye to eye. The couch is right next to her cage. We give nosy kisses a lot and I feed her timothy hay stems this way so there is no eye poke.

Yeah I don't use a towel or anything, I was careful to try and pick up their cues since I first got them and I just put them back. I ignored them once and got peed on, but thats the only time its happened.

When the girls come out for lap time we cover the c ouch with mattress pads and have crib pads for our laps. They can climb up and down off us. They have a pile of hay on the couch and veggies on our laps. We have them with us anywhere from 1 to 3 hours as we often take turns being with them. They love it and often climb up and snooze on our laps. They are out again in the evening with me for an hour.

I can usually only hold Rigby for about 5 minutes before he wants to go back in his cage. One time I kept him out longer than he liked and he peed on me. lol
I can have George out for much longer. I try to give George at least 30 minutes of lap time 'cause he loves it so much. He normally indicates that he wants to go back to his cage by nibbling on my shirt.

It completely depends on the pig & situation, both of my girls are good at letting me know when they need to go potty (gentle nipping), or telling me that it's enough for the day (becoming uneasy & trying to climb up my chest). It's usually around 5-15 minutes. But after giving Mad Hatter a bath, she will stay out for hours as I dry her in towels without getting tiered of me, grooming me as I'm drying her. ^^

Cookie can only handle about 30 minutes before she starts nipping at us to put her back. Cakepop can stay out much longer, as long as she is on a towel, as she is a pooping machine. I usually hold her for about an hour every evening (if I have time), it is our bonding time :). I usually leave her alone the rest of the night, though I will take out Cookie for another 10-15 minutes before I go to bed.

I hold Wilbur 30-60min at nights. I have found that he doesn't like to be held in the morning. Is that weird? I don't really hold his cage mate because he doesn't seem to like enjoy it at all so I don't force myself on him.

I'd just like to say that it is super reassuring to know that even long-term piggy owners sometimes have pigs that won't be held for more than 5 minutes. My piggies are still a little anxious, and their attitudes vary day by day. One day they'll sit with me for fifteen minutes or more; the next and they'll be teeth chattering and fidgeting within a few seconds! I do hope that if I continue being gentle I might be able to extend this time. In fact, following on from that, what are people's experiences regarding snuggly vs. unsnuggly pigs? Do people find that a lap-piggy is a lap-piggy from day one, or is it something you have to work towards?

Shadowfax will stay about 20-30 minutes. Brego will only stay for 10 minutes max before he starts to squirm, he's very active and always wants to be moving around
