How do you attach your fleece?

Hi all, I just finished building my C&C cage and now I'm trying to cover the top 2 levels and ramps (or steps) in fleece. To get from one level to the next I put a grid about 1/4 of the way up and then another bent grid (that looks like a futon) 1/2 way between that. It makes a step look and doesn't take as much cage room as a straight ramp, plus then my guys can use the bottom as a hidey place and the futon as a bed. My question is how can I keep the fleece attached to this without having clothespins all over the place.

I had some luck with velcro, but you have to sew it on to the fleece. The sticky side of the velcro worked good on the coroplast though.

Binder clips?

Oh yeah, I forgot about the binder clips. They work great too...and look better than clothes pins.

You could make a cover that you just slip on.

You could put a liner on the back of some kind of "grippy" waterproof fabric. This can double as extra protection and a way to keep it in place. Just make sure the back is a washable sort of fabric.

I use velcro, but you need A LOT of it. It will stick on the coroplast, but like A4PigHome said, you need to sew it onto the fleece because it peels off easily, especially if the pigs are clawing at it. I bought 6ft of velcro, and there are huge gaps the pigs can get through on the bottom, and I didn't have any left to velcro the top. So, you need a lot! Good luck!

I don't attatch it. Mine don't burrow under it. However, at the Pet Expo last weekend, we used fleece and one of our babies that has only been on bedding was under it faster than I could put the binder clips on.

I have 6 piggies and dont use anything to hold it down other than their pigloo's. They have gone under the fleece once or twice but they dont anymore. I make sure I cover 1/2 their cage with a lid and put a sheet or blanket over it so its like a giant hidey house for them and that seems to have done the trick.

I don't use anything to hold mypigs fleece down. Once in awhile I will find the smaller pieces floded in half though.

What are binder clips?

I don't plan to really use anything on the flooring... but on the little steps that I made out of grids I was putting down coroplast and then doing fleece over them as well. I'm going to use some cable ties to attach the coroplast to the grids and then I'll just velcro the fleece to the coroplast. If that doesn't work, then I'll have to come up with something else.

Thanks for your replies and tips!

Be blessed!!!

I just had another idea, what about little ties made by cutting fleece into thin strips w/ pinking shears? The ties would go on each corner and possibly each side as needed. You'd just have to make sure you tied them on the outside so the pigs couldn't get at them. I might try this when I make my cage.

I googled it for you and this was one of the first sites that came up with pictures of them: https://www.keysan.com/ksu1712.htm

I bought mine at Office Max. They come in all different colors, but many places only sell them in black. I could only find gold, which turned out nice. If you look in the gallery pictures, you will find examples of how people used them, especially in the ramp section, I think.
