Sorry to post two threads two nights in a row about questions! I'm genuinely concerned about ol' Pinto (what I've named my little guy).
So, when I bought him I made some newbie mistakes in buying him hay cubes, some not-so-great food and bought him an edible log house that is made with pinechips, honey, and alfalfa.
First things first, the hay cubes. I've done a bit of research and double checked everything that I could, and the particular brand is compressed and doesn't have any sugar, molasses, or anything like that to keep the hay together. Now, I am going to get him some loose hay, and this is what concerns me - my schedule is completely packed at the moment. I work evenings all the way to the mid AMs and the only place I can get better supplies for him is about 45 minutes in the opposite direction of my work.
The food is low quality by everyone's standards here. Brown's Encore Premium, if anybody wants to look it up who didn't read my last post.
So, here are my concerns.
He is quite young - and I don't want any of these mistakes to make him sick, or worse. The house thing, I can simply throw away - but if it is an absolute "I must go out and get him new food and hay tomorrow" I can do it. It's just going to be tough and I will be tired at work and "could" get in a great deal of trouble. I've had him for four days now, starting on the fifth day and this is what I've had for him. Main question - do you think he will be OK for another three days with this material? I can get him some veggies tomorrow, but everything else probably has to wait unless the community would consider this a serious risk to his health.
I hate living in a small town.
