Hello all!
Prior to me rescuing my girls and knowing I was going to eventually adopt a piggie or two, my dad built me a makeshift cage.
It's open, like a C&C and has stick on linolium(sp?)squares for flooring.
We made sides from an old cage that I lost the pan to and it's huge!
Anyway, the floor wasn't thought thru well enough as the squares aren't sticky enough and we didn't put sides up to prevent the urine, etc from slipping underneath the sides.
Wondering if you can get the coloplast(sp again?) cut to specific sizes and how I could possibly go about "lining" the bottom of this cage.
I'd hate to not be able to use this, even if only for an extra "cleaning" day cage or play cage.
Thanks!

You could put coroplast on the bottom of it. You might want to look into a wood floor grade polyurethane to protect the wood from water. I've also kind of wondered if marine paint would work? The type of paint used on boats. You could see about getting a scrap piece of linoleum and just relay it.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if the coroplast could be cut to size - I'm sure it could be.
I just have to find it locally.
Do the sides just flip up on the coroplast? I think I could work out the floor but the sides do not totally meet with the floor and everything goes under.
Not sure about the paint??
I know I have options, just wanna go with what is easiest and least expensive :)
Thanks again!

If you call a sign making store, you should be able to buy a full sheet of coroplast-4ft by 8ft. You can cut it yourself (or have Dad do it). When you cut, make sure to "score" it-you cut through the top sheet, and the fluted insides, but not the bottom sheet. Then it bends where it was scored, and remains water proof. The sign stores should also have colors, just make sure to call around for the best price. I only paid $15 for a full sheet.

Well, that sounds easy enough...I hate to not be able to utilize the cage.
I will google and call some shops-is there any well known places I could start with or do I just have to find one in my area?
Thank you!
BTW, love your piggie with the easter eggs!!! Adorable :D

@mrs.zen - you can look to see if there are any of these near you - (broken link removed)

Also, a plastics company is a good thing to google first, then go the sign shop route. My fiance is from upstate so I know it can be tough finding everything you need without driving forever, so good luck!

The instructions on making the C and C cages, including measurements and cutting coroplast, are on this site. The measurements are VERY accurate and all the instructions are clear and easy to understand. Just remember, measure twice (or three times) and cut once and be careful scoring or you'll have to tape it back shut or something and it's a pain, not that i would know anything about that! :p

Thank you, checked for SABIC in my area but no such luck. Closest is Syracuse which is about an hour and a half away. I have a call in to a sign shop here in town and waiting to hear back on a price. Syracuse is doable, but probably as a last resort-especially with a 2 yr old-lol.
I appreciate the help tho'-:)

I did see the threads on cage making-I figured I'd utilize the huge "box" I have now and just try and cover the floor properly. We'll see what happens-you never know. Thank you!

You can use linoleum, just a big, single sheet type, that way urine doesn't get in between or under the tiles. Someone else here just made one with lino, do a search, maybe, to see it, i just saw it this morning.

Thank you grace, I will look for that. :)
