What is an easy way to hold down fleece? I have tried Sticky back velcro but it comes off in the wash and It is imposible to sew on. Any advice?

My cubes sit inside my coroplast, rather than outside it. I cut the fleece an inch or so bigger all around than the cubes, and sit them directly down on the fleece. It works.

I tried that but the cubes won't all fit in the coroplast.

I have three serious burrowers so the easiest way for me has been to cut some slit-like holes along the bottom of the coroplast, feed some fleece through, "wrap" it around one of the wires of the grid and clip it on from the outside in. I have one hole and clip per cube. The fleece is nice and tight, changing it is a breeze, and the pigs can't get under it anymore.

I had a friend just give me a great idea today.....she bought those rubber mats that are often used inside kitchen drawers to keep stuff from sliding around (got them at the dollar store, too!) and put them under the fleece. It works great!

BUt wouldn't the rubber mat prevent the fleece from wicking the pee through to whatever you have underneath to abosrb it? I'm not seeing how that would work.

That's true. I guess it depends on how it is being used. I think she is just using it on the edges of the fleece....and she uses litter boxes so they pee in those and it is just the "other" that goes on the fleece.

I did not realize that people were putting the fleece on top of bedding.....

It goes
Fleece
Old Towels

Also you can use
Fleece
Puppy pad

I think maybe the kitchen thing keeps it from slipping. Its not one continous plastic sheet. Its one of the ones that has holes in it. I've seen some used on this site as the bottom for ramps. It looks like this.

I think she's saying it kept the fleece from sliding around and letting the piggies get under it.

If it's one of those foamy textured things, that just doesn't sound like a good idea at all. They are porous, so they'll start stinking before too long, and I don't think they can be easily washed.

If your fleece is big enough you could fit it so it comes over the sides of the coroplast and then fix with binder clips. I have found this very successful and it has also stopped my naughty piggies chewing the coroplast!! :D

FireyOne...Totally random: Are you a Sox or Yankees fan?

My boyfriend and I are Sox fans; we are considering getting Yankees fleece though so Felix can pee and poop on it all he wants until we change it out again. :-D

I am a diehard, born and bred Sox fan. My husband suggested that I do the same and get Yankees fleece for them to pee and poop all over, but I decided that I find the Yankees emblem too offensive to have in my office. :p

We'll see if I can find scrap peices at Jo-Ann's use them for the top of their perches. This has become the favorite pooing spot. They jump on their perch waggle their bums at each other, and then poo. That way its not the entire cage. Hehehe.

I'm an Indians/Tigers Fan. Gotta be an Indians fan when you live in Cleveland, even if they stink. But hey they beat the yankees 22 to 4 at Yankee stadium. :D Won't ever happen again, but that was awesome.

Do not do it. I repeat, do not do it.
I am a Yankees fan. :D
I still can't believe the Indians beat the Yankees.

Froggirls009:
I know you said you had tried velcro but instead of sticking it one side to the blanket and on side to the cage I just put the "bitting" stiff side one the side of the cage all the way around. I then cut the fleece so there was a 1 in lip on all four sides and the fleece sticks to the velcro all be itself and I haven't had any problems yet.

How about label scotch tape in both off faces, the bottom of the cage and the fleece bonded together?

Maybe this is a stupid question, but is it bad for them to burrow under the fleece? Only one of my piggies does it, and I haven't really worried about it.

I don't think it's bad, I just personally find it annoying. They make a huge mess under there

Oh, okay. I don't mind him being under there - he mostly uses his kitchen to go potty, just likes to hide under the fleece in the main part of his cage. It looks funny, but he likes it so we let him.
