Hi there! Some questions about Guinea pig/cages

I don't have fleece underneath the shavings, that would be a mess to clean when it's cleaning time. I just use straight shavings all down the bottom of the cage.

Why are you putting shavings on top of the fleece? The whole point of using fleece is that it wicks the urine through to the absorbent layer underneath, keeping the pig feet dry and in much less danger of getting bumble foot?

And pigs should never "finish up the hay." It's the most important thing in their diets, and they should have it ALL the time. It's what keeps their teeth ground down and their digestive tracts moving, thereby saving you a lot of expensive dental bills.

oh sorry, thats not what i meant, i put some hay in the corner of the cage just in case he didint want to eat from the hay stand or from the hay at the top "floor", he finished that pile of hay, and when i was there he was eating from the stand, and ran away since he saw me.

oh, and i havent got the C&C yet, so there is no shavings over the fleece.
