Hi all, my family (hubby and two little girls 5 & 7) are the proud owners of three crazy guinea pigs, Sheldon, Splash and Fluffy. Our guinea pigs are outdoor guinea pigs, they are also free range. They love the freedom of our big backyard and have their favourite spots to hide. Their cage us undercover and they come back to eat, sleep or want yo rest but they love the freedom of the great outdoors.

our guineas LOVE spinach, carrots, broccoli, kale cucumber and parsley.

How often do you visit your pigs and how often do you bring them inside? I've always read housing guinea pigs outside is a big NO so I was just wondering.

What you read is correct. Piggies are extremely vulnerable and exposed to to climate change, drafts, predation, poisonous plants, mites, fleas, I could go on all day....
They REALLY shouldn't be housed outdoors.

The only time they should be outdoors is when they're supervised. You're feeding them a lot of high calcium foods that can lead to bladder stones. Others are gassy foods that can cause digestive issues. Carrots are high in sugar and no more than a baby carrot each per day should be offered. This site has a lot of valuable information on proper care and feeding. There's info on the main tab, above, regarding proper cage size and the forum has a diet and nutrition section. Get them indoors and your guinea pigs will have a better chance at living a healthier and longer life.
