I live in Queensland Australia it is summer here and if i kept my Guinea Pigs inside they would die of heat stroke. That is why they are out side inthe shade on the grass which i can wet (not the guinea pigs. the grass) down a couple of times a day to help them stay cool.

Umm any Australians here? I'm sure plenty have pigs inside that are living pretty well and not having any heat stroke issues.

Yeah baby girl I live in Australia, and it's pretty warm outside.
I have my piggies outdoors in a "granny flat", only because most of the time it's cooler in there, then in my house.
We have an old stone house, our air-con isnt too crash hot. Sometimes the house is like a fernace.
If I didn't have the "granny flat" they would be indoors.
But if it were to get too hot they come inside. Like the other week it was 40o.

By the way I am not sure I know what you mean by "troll". I get an image of the three billy-goats gruff.
Please tell me what this means to be a troll?

I keep mine indoors and I live in Australia. You think they will get heat stroke? But you live indoors and you wont?

I dont get that. Im sorry but I have mine in my bedroom in 45 degree heat some days. To keep them cool I have ice packs, a fan, ice in their water bowls and tiles. This keeps them cool and happy. Yes its very hot but I give them things to keep them cool. Tomorrow its going to be 36 here and I have their ice packs all ready to go.

Please dont breed. Please read this link: http://cavyspirit.com/breeding.htm If you read it all and your parents read it all and you still want to breed fair enough. But no one here will support it.

Here are some questions:

What will you do if she has 8 or more babies?
Will your parents be willing to spend up to $500 in vetinary fees if a complication comes up?
Do you have enough room for the babies?
Do you have homes lined up if you dont want all the babies?
If you give the babies away how do you know that person will take care of them?
Do you know what types of babies can be lethal?
What will you do if the mother has complications gives brith and then her babies are sick? Are your parents willing to pay MORE money?

If you keep the babies howe will you pay for all the food, hay, accessories, extra cage space? Will your parents give you MORE money?

What will you do when the mother gets toxemia?

Many vets here in Australia no NOTHING about guinea pigs. I have never heard of a vet here that has an honours and masters in small aniaml vetinary care that specialised in guinea pigs. Do you know one? Are you going to just take them to just ANY vet?

Breeding means money. It means putting your cavies life at risk. It means holding a dead animal in your hands while her dead babies surround you all because YOU wanted to breed. Are you going to feel guilty? Will you care?

One word DONT. Dont breed. If you really loved your pet you wouldnt do it. We have had too many people here tell horror stories on how guinea pigs die day after day from living outside. How they die from breeding.

I dont mean to scare you or offend you. But no one here will support breeding. Im an Australian and I dont, and I never will.
