Weight He's gaining!

After a trip to the vet yesterday, she told me Muffin needs to gain about 300g as he is very underweight. He is now having a mixed salad twice a day along with his pellets, hay and some treats, he has managed to gain 50g since yesterday and he was weighed at the same time so I'm feeling quite happy that he will gain his 300g in the week. All I have to do then is not let him get too fat.

The advice the vet gave me was exactly the same as the advice on here so it shows how good a community this is.

I can't believe I've only had my little pig for 5 days, he has settled in so well! I'm going to try and attach a picture of him with my daughter, she'll only hold him on the fleece in case he has an accident on her!

That is a sweet picture. I'm sure he'll gain the weight he needs in no time, he looks and sounds like a very happy pig!

Sadly muffin deteriorated rapidly. This morning his breathing was very laboured so I took to the vet who said that he had heart failure. She said this was likely to be the cause for his weight loss and felt that the kindest course of action was to euthnase him. He may have only been with us for a week but I will really miss him. R.I.P Muffin :weepy:

Oh you poor thing! At least he'll be happily munching away on carrots up in cavy heaven. My best wishes, losing a pig is never easy.
