This may sound like an odd question but I am hoping someone here might know while I am waiting to go to the vet in an hour :(....Our youngest piggie is a rescue pig and I am unsure of how old she is or her history much. I I have noticed that she was very tiny (like runt of the litter tiny) when we got her and has steadily gained weight over time. She doesn't or didn't have mites or lice or anything like that but I have noticed that she is pear shaped and then today it looked like she might be (i hate to say it) pregnant. Her sides look like my oher piggie did when we got her (and she to was pregnant and we didnt know when we got her) and her nipples on her belly look very elongated. I went to the guinea lynx site but it did not help and since I have an hour to wait to go to the vet my anxiety has me posting on here...and whats even more anxious is my normal vet just had surgery 2 days ago and can't see her for another week and I dont like to wait...any ideas about if this sounds like pregnancy?

Well back from the vet. She is excellent health, good teeth, nails, heartbeat, bug free...and has 2 babies inside her :( I only have a 4X5 cage with a 2X4 top for the 4 piggies we have and they are out for 5 hours+ a day for their free range floor time but I don't think this cage is going to be big enough for 2 more, assuming they are both girls and survive of course. I am off to read the sections on pregnant piggies again and would like any suggestions/advice anyone has for helping her/them through this.

That is a great size cage! Well, the recommended size for 4 pigs is a 2x6 so If you put 2x5*3 pigs* 2 so that is good for 6 pigs. You have the right sized cage! Especially with a 2x4*2 pigs* top! That's awesome! I would suggest if you got 1 male to neuter him, and put him in with all the girls. If 2 males, you should just make them a new cage*2x4+* and put them together, in a different rooms from the girls so they don't smell their scent and fight. Good luck with the babies! Need any information on preggy pigs?

Well I have read what there is on guinea lynx site and been through it once before. I just really dislike having them get pregnant because of the possible death and complications that can arise. I have another 2X4 cage already that I originally made for my piggies when I thought I was only going to have 2 and I have enough coroplast to make another 2X4 also so I am going to wait and see how it goes and pray that she has 2 girls. I wonder if she has a boy or 2 boys and I get them neutered (though I'd prefer to not even do that because of the risks in surgery) if I could let them in with the girls after they had healed and all. If so then I will have a 4X9 cage with a 2X4 top that they can all play around in and a 12'X10' piggy proof room that they have free range time in.
