I will be adding a few new piggies to my herd (or pig room should I say!). I would like to build a stacked 2x5 with 2 individual cages with a 1 grid high stand underneath for storage.

I've been looking at pictures and think I have an idea of how to do it. My main concern is ease of cleaning the bottom level. I also want to make sure that whoever I decided to put in the bottom level will be comfortable and won't be too boxed in either.

Something like this. The top level will be left open.

Thoughts?

We just put an extra grid between levels so that the second level is higher up, making the lower level easier to clean, mine is 3x4 which makes it too hard to get to the back without being able to access the back, so we left little "windows" for access points. I think a 2x4 If you had swing open front doors you would still be able to reach the back, but mine is just slightly too big lol.

I decided to make a triple 2x4. I really like how it turned out!!

I did a different style of a hay rack to make it easier to refill.

I love them so far!! It is much less waste and they do not get a chance to soil all of the hay in the rack! :)

Looks great!! Who lives there?
How did you do the hay rack in the last picture?

Thanks! My solo boys live in each level.
The rack is really easy. Just made a coro box, leaving the top off. Poked holes in to zip tie it to the cage. Simple.

I really like this style. Just make sure that you put grids all around the cage, instead how this person stopped.

I totally used your hay bin idea, its fantastic! It will almost deffinately save me some wasted hay, and serious mess lol. Thanks for posting the picture!
