Help - scab and bald spot

It's been 2 days since we adopted our 2 girls, so we decided that it was time for some cuddling. During laptime, I noticed that Marcy, the short haired girl, has a rather large scab (about the size of her eye) on her right shoulder and a bald spot (a bit larger than her eye) behind her ear.
I tried spreading her fur around to look for mites (bald spot), but couldn't see any (with my microscopic vision - har-har).
And the scab, well, I don't know if that's from her sister or from her previous home (she was caged with 5 others in a very small area).
Help!

The bald behind the ear is normal. Almost all cavies have it. I don't know about the scab.

Actually, only if their is a symetrical bald spot in the same exact place behind the other ear is it totally normal(or that's what I've been told) Mites are microscopic, so I highly doubt you could see them. If you can find ivermectin, I would treat them both with it as a preventative measure.

One of my piggies also has a very small I think scab. Her skin is fine everywhere else. It could have been from her nails when she occassionaly scratches herself. She is fine in every other way. Just keep a close watch on her.

The scab can be from mites, a fungus or possibly a bite. Please see this page:

OH! You know, I thought I scoured the guinea lynx site... that is one page that I missed. Yeah, the bald spot behind the ear looks like the one pictured. *whew* And, yes, the scab could be a bite (she was in a small cage with 5 others in her last home). I think I was just worrying too much... something similar to this thread

Thanks for your help and kind words! :)
