ok well i recently found out my guinea pig cage is to small and was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions on how to make it bigger? Heres a pic of it: [GuineaPigCages.com] Help please? it was a store bought but i'm hoping someone can give me some suggestions on how i could modify it?
P.S you can google more pics if you'd like it is called the guinea pig habitat defined
P.S.S And my guineas wont go to the second level any suggestions why they wont or how i could fix this?

Hello! Your pig probably isn't going to the second level because guinea pigs are ground dwellers and not climbers. Also, the plastic probably does not give your pig enough traction to be able to go up the ramp. Have you looked around at the C&C cages on this site? Maybe you could get cubes and add on to that cage, and use that part as a kitchen and the rest of the cage the main area? I'm not good at cage reconstruction! Hopefully Lissie will be around soon!

ok thanks anything helps!

You could remove the tray and put it inside the big cage, use it as a feeding area like this one:

Another idea is to make a ramp from big cage to the smaller cage. Something like this:

The ramp in your cage looks slippery. If you make a better ramp with something for traction, they might use it. See the ramp gallery for ideas.

Some people have made larger C&C cages, then put their old cage inside it as a loft with a ramp. It's hard to expand on pet store cages short of constructing a new one.

Here's an example of connecting it: https://www.guineapigcages.com/photos/showfull.php?photo=20445

I
can't find the picture of the cage where they put the old cage, stand and all inside the new cage. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

I know this is no help, but mine went into storage. :(

Another idea is to build a stand for C&C cage that will be the same height with the store bought cage. Then make a tunnel between the cages.

How long have you had the cage? Is it returnable?
