I'm not sure, I think maybe because I asked when she would be back and she sighed and said she would be here tomorrow. I'll ask her and thank her a lot. She acted like she cared so much, and also called her assistant a moron, lol!

i can just imagine why she called her assistant a moron.

Morgan, your piggy needs help NOW. We all love our animals, we love our piggys, to know any piggy is in pain, is just awful doesnt even have to be our own. When our Charlie nearly died, i moved heaven and earth to get her to the after hours vet as quickly as i could, called in babysitters at 11pm at night, raided the bank, it cost me an absolute fortune, 200 english pounds, but she lived, she is checked every month by the vet to make sure she is ok. i may be speaking out of turn, but i will assume you are a minor and as such are at the whim of your parents, you need to stress to them that your piggy is in incredible pain. needs to see a vet NOW,

If your guineapig cant move its legs is it just laying there? or can it move by dragging? will it be able to get to water etc? i can't remember if this has been suggested cos this thread took a while to read but I would suggest having everything it needs next to it so it doesnt need to move and that it is kept out of drafts. when your in a panic you can forget things like this so i thought it might be helpful.

I also think you should get the pig in the car and drive now to the closest vets even if it is two hours away.

Just read through everything and my first thought was, why have an exotic animal if there aren't vets in your immediate area? I have a main vet but I also have three vets in my general area that I know the number and locations to if something ever went wrong.
I guess hind sight is twenty twenty. Hope the little pig is okay.

He can't, as he said he doesn't drive. Someone has to take him.

Morgan, he is not fine if he can not move his back legs. Is it that your parents do not want to pay for vet care for a rodent?

A lot of people have exotic animals without close by vet care. That goes for animals period. From that one, you could say why live out far enough that you spend on hour or so driving to your child's doctor.

You clearly didnt read thoroughly, as Morgan said his exotics vet was 3 minutes away but was on vacation, out of town, but he talked to the vet on the phone and will see them tomorrow, but for now, the pig is doing fairly well

how many times do I have to say that he has already been to the vet? I also have already said that he is going back in the morning? I live with my mom and she also cares. Very much about animals. Not related to the quoted post but I do live with my mom, and I am a minor. I am 15, with my permit. So I can't drive on my own.

I'll be totally honest here.

I'm unsubscribing from this thread because I don't feel the whole truth is being told. On top of that the poor pig in pain and danger isn't getting what he needs for one reason or another and I'm really stressing over him and he isn't even mine.

I just want to leave by saying, Morgan, I wish your piggy all the luck and hope he gets the care he needs to get to full recovery.

Geesh! Guys really? You are practically attacking poor Morgan! Morgan came here for help! I understand that we all have a way of doing things, but you have no idea of his situation! It sounds to me that Morgan is trying, which is more than I can say for a lot of people that own exotics or other pets for that matter. He is doing what his vet has told him to do. Yes, the situation sucks, but at least the go to the vet in the morning.

Morgan, I can't imagine how helpless you must feel with your GP hurting. I hope that your vet can help you get things all figured out tomorrow and that your GP will be OK! I'm sorry that you have to deal with this stressful situation and waiting for your vet doesn't help. In every situation a lesson can be learned, and I hope that you have learned something from this.

Please let me know how you are your GP are doing. Good Luck!!!

The guineapig needs to get to the vet. Is it daytime where you are? (I live in the uk not usa) if so then please get your mum to drive you to the nearest open vets. Guineapigs often don't show they are ill until it is too late.

I promise everyone here I am doing everything in MY OWN POWER to help my pig. I can't change the way anyone acts, including my vet. I can't drive or I would take him to an emergency vet. I took him to my exotic today and she isn't there, only her "moron" assistant, who called the vet and let me talk to her on the phone. She will return from vacation tomorrow and I am taking chestnut in first thing tomorrow. My mom will be bringing him home tomorrow from the vet because I have school. I will post after school and basketball practice what the vet tells me about chestnut. I am telling the truth here. I don't understand why no one believes me or listens to me. Everyone just jumps on me, I'm 15, I can't do a whole lot on my own. At least in this subject.

Hi, I just caught up reading through this thread and I really hope that your piggie is okay. I am of strong opinion that a piggy with such serious injury needs to see a vet asap however I think everyone on here needs to consider the fact that it may be VERY difficult to do so if you cannot drive yourself. One of my friends had piggies and found herself in a similar situation with an injured piggy and not being able to get it to a vet because her parents didn't think the guinea pigs important nor did they like them, she didn't have anyone else to ask she was about 14 yrs old none of her friends were old enough to drive nor would any family members care enough about guinea pigs to do so. She was very distressed and upset because no one would help her.

In the end after weeks and weeks of the piggy suffering and her constant begging to her parents they told her they would take it if she could pay which she sold a heap of her stuff on ebay to do so. Finally her piggy saw the vet and was well again. Luckily for the piggy it was not as serious as spinal injuries and he was okay. I am of the belief that if you cannot afford vet care then you should not have pets because it isn't fair to make the animals suffer. It can be difficult though if parents initially agree to allow there son/daughter to get the pets and then just expect not to have to spend any money on them it they become unwell. I am not saying for sure this is the case here just that without a reliable form of transport and having to rely completely on others for it, well it can make things awfully difficult.

If the vet was only three minutes away though I would just walk there, if it was the only way because no one would drive me.When I was younger and had to rely on others for transport though my parents were always very understanding and reliable when it came to getting to important places like the vet so I was very lucky, seeing what my friend went through though and that poor piggy, it wasn't easy. I am just thankful that the piggy was okay.

Good luck Morgan, I really hope Chestnut is okay and wish him a speedy recovery :)
