I'm a fairly long-time lurker, and only recently have I found the courage to join. I am fortunate enough to have two female piggers in my home; Ginny and Missy. I sadly purchased them from a pet store almost two years ago without knowing the implications of my actions. I had wanted a pair of rats, in all honesty, but my parents talked me into guinea pigs, and I fell in love.
During that time, though, they have lived in a depressingly small pet store cage that is embarrassing, to say the least. I could never talk my parents into getting a bigger cage with their money ("Oh, they're just hamsters. They don't need a big cage"), but I now finally have my own bank account, and of course, all of my money is going towards piggies! I'm looking to build them a 4x4 cage with a few additions, and I'm hoping that by that time the two lovely ladies in a shelter near my town will still be up for adoption.
I'm a recent high school graduate (and they say being lazy doesn't get you anywhere), and I'd love to make up for sleeping through twelve years of school by trying to get into vet school. That's just a dream, though, hehe.
At any rate, I'd like to thank this site for helping me realise how I could take better care of my lovely lady pigs! You all have been a great help, and hopefully soon I'll be able to finally build that cage I've been dreaming of!
