Hello. My name is Steffanie. I am, well my daughter (5) so I am the owner of two Guinea Pigs. Lenny, we have had since May of this year and Max we have had for about three weeks. I must say, I did not know anything about guinea pigs before we ended up with Lenny. So after a crash coarse, the store bought cage was traded in for a much larger cage, and I am now a fleece bedding user. I wash and change out their bedding EVERY DAY! They are fed Oxbow hay and fresh veggies and some peletts. I was horrified to read not to feed them carrots everyday, as I thought I had done my research well and was being a good care taker. I have been feeding them carrotts and celery, spinach, parsley, cilantro, but that is about all these picky guineas will eat. I went out and purchased a bell pepper, zuchinni sp oops, and they will not touch it. Just curious what do I do now? They do not like to drink water out of the bottle, so, I crush up vit. C tablets and put it on the celery leaves and they will eat it. These two cute piggies take up a lot of my time with cleaning and cutting up of veggies 2-3 times a day. I am worried that I am over feeding them too.:eye-poppi Lenny weighs 2.9lbs and I am not sure about Max as he is much smaller, probably still a baby, and loves to burrow under the fleece. I just want to make sure I am doing everything right for them. Also, Lenny, the first Guinea, does not like to leave the cage for floor time now that Max is here. Should I make take them out and make them have floor time? Lenny was having 1-2 hours a day before Max came home. They get a long just fine, but Max seems to be an escape artist and I am nervous about letting him out again until he settles in a little more with his new home. Thank you all for you help, as this place has been a wealth of information for me and our Guineas.
Trying to get it all figured out in Texas,
Steffanie
