Hello everyone! Well I will first introduce myself, my name is Lauren. I am 21 years old and I live in the Florida panhandle. I am married and my husband, Josh, and I share our home with a small zoo! ;) I grew up always having lots of pets in the house and both my parents were avid in animal rescue. We always had pets of our own and usually a foster or two. With my dad volunteering at a local wildlife rehab, we also occassionally had exotic animals share our home with us.

My husband also shares a passion for animals, so together we opened our home to lots of furry family members. We have dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, rats, mice, geckos, and a turtle. My passion is rats, and I do lots of rescue and foster with them. If anyone else here is a part of online rat communities you might know me from them (my SN is the same).

The thought of getting a piggy crossed my mind occassionally but nothing ever came of it. They are constantly for adoption on the local CL and are every so often in the shelters here so I had plenty of opportunities but it never felt like the right time. A month or so ago, I really started thinking about it. I discussed it with my husband, planned to see if we had enough space to accommadate their cages, and made sure we had the funds to give them everything they needed. So we decided to open up our home to a pair of piggys :) Before I even started looking, a friend of mine who keeps guinea pigs messaged me on facebook asking me to keep my eyes and ears open if anyone was looking to adopt a pig because she had taken in a pregnant pig from the shelter and the babies would be ready for new homes soon. I knew this was meant to be and I quickly told her of our decision to get a couple pigs of our own and she was ecstatic that "her babies" would be in good hands. I crossed my fingers that both babies would be girls and as luck would have it, they were! Last week, Emma and Rosie moved into our home and became a part of our family

So I was browsing petfinder and came across a group of pigs who were turned into one of the local shelters together. My friend, who I adopted my girls from, was looking for another female to adopt to be a companion for the mother of the babies, since she fell in love with her and kept her. I let her know and she went to visit the pigs and ended up coming home with all 5!! The shelter wasn't equipped to take care of the pigs properly and they had been living on newspaper in little kennels with rabbit pellets. So all are now safe and sound and there happened to be two little sisters who were apart of the group and well.... I fell in love!! They are still living with their mom, but I will be picking them up at the end of the week. Im so excited to meet them! This is the picture that their foster momma sent me
