I recently got back from my suspension and fromn a week long vacation. I have been to another forum called Wheekers, where I have learned a lot and many of the people are a bit less criticial. I will be getting a new guinea pig tommarow and can't wait. Also many of you might remember me and I would like to clear one thing up. I realized that the C&C cages are measuredd in grids. Many of you freaked out when I aksed about a 1x2 cage. Well ha I was measuring in feet! I am hping for a fresh start.

Welcome back.

How big is your cage? Are you going to adopt? We're critical here because we're really passionate on the welfare of piggies.
Hopefully no one will hold a grudge against you (for whatever reason) and (like you said), you have a fresh start.

I am going to buy a cage tommarow. I couldn't buy one until then because we just got back from vacation. Sorry Know we will not be adopting it just seemed a bit complicated for us. I will try to adopt my 2nd guinea pig though. I understand why you are critical but I would think you could tone it down. When I saw YOU (not yelling) I mean eveeryone not you personally.

Oops in the last sentence it is say not saw and everyone not eveeryone.

you are going to buy a cage why can't you make one and how is the adoption process complicated?

That's such a LAME excuse. How is it complicated? The shelter/rescue is trying to find a GOOD home so they interview you and check in on the guinea pig every now and then. Sure it might take a couple hours out of your days, but you are helping the homeless animals and not the breeders.

It doesn't matter, a 1x2 C&C or a 1ft x 2ft cage is still WAY too small for one piggie, let alone 2.

i LOOKED INTO MAKING A CAGE AND IT TURNED OUT EXPENSIVE AND HARD TO FIND THE PARTS. Oops caps lock! Sorry. We did not find any good adoption centers and could not find any good healthy guinea pigs. Yes but a 1x2 ft is not that small but I was also over measuring.

Now it would also be good if you could get past the whole adoption thing. One other reason is I got my favorite and sweetest guinea pig from this one place and I want to bring back her memory and little more.

1x2 ft is extremely small and not acceptable for anything but a dwarf hamster. A grid is actually 14" which is bigger than 1 foot. A 1x2 c&c is bigger than a 1'x2' cage. You cannot buy a petstore cage suitable for guinea pigs for cheaper than you make a c&c. It is not possible. A guinea pig needs at absolute minimum 7sq ft for 1 and preferably another 2-3sq ft for 2. If you could at least reach that much cage space and did not buy them from a petstore or breeder everyone would not be upset with you. Adopting guinea pigs is very very easy so long as you are meeting their minimum care requirements. If you aren't then it sure better be complicated cause if you can't meet the basic requirements from the shelter you don't deserve one.

Where are you talking about? Do they have a website?

I agree with all the rest. Why can't you bear a little driving and such for adoption? There are 1000's of pigs looking for homes! If you don't mind, may I have your zip code? I really think I could find you a good adoption center within 50 miles of you.

And please, if you aren't capable of providing the correct care for this animal (Housing, a friend, adopting, etc.) don't get it.

I have found room for a cage and did so weeks ago. I also couldn't find the parts for the C&C cage. Anyway about the measurmenst I really was measuring wrong.

Alfie please answer some of the questions I asked. I just would like to know some things. Please also tell us approx. how big your cage is or if it is on the net please show us a picture.

And btw, if you can give me your zip, I can find you an adoption center AND some cubes and coro. If coro isn't avalible, try lino.

Just because I do not adopt does not mean the guinea pig will not have a good home. Also I must say I am picky with my guinea pig preferences. I would like a young female and I am looking for some different colorings to remind me of my old guinea pig! My zip code is 21784. I sound dumb but how long would 50 miles take? Also I have been waiting weeks for the guinea pig but we might not have time to go through adopting proceedures. We will be picking up my dogs from the kennel and who knows what we might have to do with my brother. Even if I do not adopt I would still provide a good home.

I looked into the cubes and coro but it was a bit complicated, I am bad at handywork, and my mom wouldn't drive me out in time to get the cage stuff in time so we found out buying a good sized cage was the way to go. I do not know how big the cage is but I saw it and it was about 2x3 maybe 2x4(in grids even know its not a C&C).

I have to go watch a movie with my mom. So I will check your replies tommarow. If you knew how excited and how much preperation I have been doing you would know I would make a good owner. I already spent a lot on ink for all the papers I printed. (Well actually my parents bought the ink but still.)

Yes but you are still giving money to the petstore to bring in two more guinea pigs who might go home with some un-educated person. 50 miles would take exactly 50 minutes at 60 miles an hour. So depending on speed limits, it can take anywhere from 50 minutes to 1 hour and a half. Why can't you just adopt a piggy in place of the old one? Isn't that enough having a piggy again?

If you must have the same colorings, what color was it?

I will only be bringing in one guinea pig at a time actually because I want to see how thw guinea pig will interact etc etc. I do not think my mom would be willing to drive over an hour considering she had to drive 4 hours yesterday. Bye now

Ok colorings real quick.....
I like black eyes.
Now either black, white and a little brown.
Brown and white.
Or maybe tan and white. I am not too picky but I don't really want a solid color or red eyes, they sort of creap my mom out.
