Hello - Advise needed x2 new baby guinea pigs, 'step dad' & mum all live together

Hello,

Can you please help?

I bought two Guinea pigs from a pet shop being told that they were both males but we actually had a male and a female. The male died due to a stroke but had in fact impregnated the female unbeknown to us so we had to separate the new male as the female gave birth to two boys(we think, they're 3 weeks old only). Before the birth they didn't seem to be that happy with each other and now we're not sure what to do as the male guinea pig does get on with the 3 week old guinea pigs but we've just noticed today that the babies are jumping on mums back and are aware that we need to separate mum from babies at 4 weeks so she does not get impregnated.

What would you advise is best now as we've had the male 'step dad' neutered. Can they live as a happy family if mum is spayed?

Chantal, please only post a message in one thread -- duplicating them just makes it harder to follow what's going on with your pigs.
