my guinea pig and rabbit are very hot. They are seriosly hot and the shade isnt helping. Do you have any suggestions for keeping them cool?

I have just sprayed my rabbits with cold water.. you could water down their hutch with a hose pipe, give them some cold bricks and freeze some water. Later I will be giving my piggies a luke warm bath to help them cool down.

It is SO hot, I hate it. I've put the pen in the shade and have put a bottle full of water in the freezer. I'll drape a towel over it and put it in their pen.

If you have any slabs or bricks, you can make a small "patio" where they can lie on top of

Do you know what happened? My mum went to the garden and my pigs had managed to get out of the pen and they were sleeping the flower bed (which was in the shade). THey were going mental in the sunshine, I just brought them inside after a while

Bring them inside if they are too hot.

The thing is, is that I actually think it's hotter inside sometimes. We got the fan out of the attic today so perhaps that will help?

Oh it is so hot every where! Indoors and out. My indoor piggies are flaked out in their boxes and cuddle cups and my outdoor piggies are flaked out under a bush. I like warm weather but this is just too hot! I gave five of my girls and one of my boys a bath yesterday... they were not pleased.

I think it is hotter inside too... at least you get a nice cold breeze outside.

Yes it is hot everywhere. I blew a fan in the corner of the kitchen (room where the pigs are) on a low setting yesteday. It seems to help. I also drench all their veggies in water.

Try freezing bottles of water and putting them in the cage (with something ontop so they dont chew it and it leaks everywhere)...they might like lying on it.

carrot, are you from England too?

THe sun is really affecting my little guys - all they seem to do is lounge around. But it's cute! I've got a fan that's blowing towards the cage and it is helping. I too am drenching the vegetables in water

i got a little plastic tray thing. They now have a swimming pool which they go in when they want to dry off, thank you for the idea's.

Ugh, today is even worse. I can't even study

You can also make piggy (or rabbit) popcicles. Water and fruit or good/plain fruit juice freeze and put them in.

Charlie and Tuppy have their own fan. I didn't sleep last night because I gave them a gentle breeze from the fan while I was melting into my bed! The foster pigs also have their own fan, so they're happy. As too am I today... I have my own fan now as well.

2 fans for 2 sets of piggies and 1 all to myself...yay!

In fact, my mum also bought a 'Chin-chiller' brick today. It's for all small animals and is simply a marble slab which you put into the fridge for an hour and put in your pigs cage. It's lovely and cold. Shame they don't do one for us humans...

I think me and my pigs are happy we're in a very cool (70-75 degrees) level of the house (basement).
