I wanted to know does anyone get the hay that has the extra stuff mixed in
like the one with marigolds. I wanted to try feeding my piggies flowers but didnt know how much i could give them I have read on many sites that they can have alot flowers like pansies, marigolds, hibiscus idk the list goes on and on.
has anyone done this?:)

I've gotten my pig the hay with the carrot bits before, as he loves his carrots, but he didn't care for it at all, he just picked those bits out and ate the regular hay. I'm not sure about the amount of the extras the pigs can get, but mine didn't think it was anything special :)

i think its because the carrots were prob dried i read flowers can do many things for piggies and humans epessially as/in a tea for humans

I've been buying the hay with flavors mixed in-I know mint is good for digestion, and cranberry is good for urinary health. I thought it added variety, but from reading others posts, it seems that the flavored hay is crappy, cheap, old stuff. The KMS hay is the best (according to other posters that have WAY more experience than I do) so I think I'll order that from now on. I'm planning on dehydrating fresh cranberries myself, because I can only find dried cranberries with added sugar, and growing mint in pots this summer-I'll add it into the hay myself. As for the added flowers in hay, sometimes the smell is really strong, so I can't imagine what the poor piggies think, and it aggravates my allergies. I don't think they should have such strong smelling stuff in thier cages. I do have Oxbow Botanical hay on hand all the time, it supposed to have herbs added in to stimulate an appetite for hay, and I use it if I feel someone isn't feeling or feeding well. My bunny had a day where he wasn't eating, and I gave it to him. Got him started eating again. I'm told all animals can have an "off" day, but it worried me. Hope this helps...

They don't need flowers. They do need all the long strand grass hay they'll eat, so their back teeth will be ground down and their intestines will work properly.

IF you can find a flower that's good for them, and IF they're getting unlimited grass hay and eating a lot of it, then you might give a dried flower every so often as a treat.

I've never tried that, but I'd bet you my next week's salary, if I had one, that they'd much rather have something like cilantro, dill or basil than they would any sort of flower. And it would be much better for them.

dont know about growing stuff i seem to have a black thumb and growing herbs seem to be a little more difficult than a regular vegetable garden. And about the botanical hay i have been debating myself for a long time on wether i should get it. In town if want something orther than timothy or alfalfa i need to order or go to columbia SC
